    Hi guys,

    I’ve just changed my theme and am hoping to activate the custom design soon, as long as I can get it looking good in the preview!

    I’m trying to change
    SophieNovak.wordpress.com

    I’d like to get rid of the Site Title over there in the sidebar, and increase the Image size from 140 × 180 to 280 x 360, so I can put a logo there with the site title in it.

    I’m staring at a blank CSS box. Can you start me off?

    Thanks!

    Sophie

    The blog I need help with is sophienovak.com.

    Welcome to WordPress.com! If you’re new to CSS, make sure to check out the built in web inspector in your browser by right-clicking and choosing the “Inspect Element” option. It will show you the HTML for what you clicked on as well as all the CSS that applies to it. It’s very handy!

    I’d like to get rid of the Site Title over there in the sidebar,

    I see that http://sophienovak.com/ is currently using The Columnist theme. To hide the site title in that theme, add this to your Appearance → Custom Design → CSS editor:

    .site-title h1 {
    	display: none;
    }

    increase the Image size from 140 × 180 to 280 x 360, so I can put a logo there with the site title in it.

    Here’s how to set a 280 x 360 pixel space for an image in the header for The Columnist theme. Replace YOUR_IMAGE_URL with a link to your image.

    #masthead .thumbnail {
    	background-color: inherit;
    	background: url('YOUR_IMAGE_URL') no-repeat;
    	width: 280px;
    	height: 360px;
    	border: 1px solid red;
    }

    Hi, I have a similar related question. I’ve just set up my blog using Columnist. I would like to change the words in my header from “kimatwildherb” to “Kim Riley Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine” however I can’t work out how to change the current header? My blog is at http://kimatwildherb.wordpress.com/

    @kimrileytcm, you can edit the site title by going to settings > general in your dashboard. Make sure and click ‘save changes’ after editing the title.
