Social Media Widgets
I have seen both used on wordpress.org blogs but I have never seen them used on wordpress.com blog.
They look like variations of the same thing. By the way, unless you’re using a theme where the sidebar does NOT appear on the front of the blog, but only on the individual posts, social media buttons in your sidebar will be far less effective. Use Getsociallive and put the buttons in each individual post instead.
And please go to your profile and change the link on your username; that’s not a WordPress.com blog, and we only provide support and advice for WordPress.com blogs here.
I removed all social media icons that link to my profile pages on various sites from my sidebar. This is because they were rarely clicked by readers and all backlinks have Google juice.
Instead I use http://getsociallive.com social networking bookmarks on my posts. Because as raincoaster points out above they are linked to specific posts, and are far more useful than sidebar icons that load every time the page loads but are rarely used by readers and bring in no traffic at all.
Where do I go to get a widget that people can share the post on Facebook or Twitter? I’m new to blogging and not sure where to go to get that put on my blog. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)
Publicize is probably what you are looking for. Here’s the support entry link > http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/
AddThjis is fabulous. I add them in to each post manually. I use both the bookmark & RSS buttons. AddThis automatically adds all the new social media sites onto their bookmark button.
Hi there. Checking support documentation can be helpful. :)

Can anyone link me to the announcement on getting my blog to feed automatically into my Facebook fan page? I did it a few weeks ago for my Twitter account and now, I can’t remember the darn article title that listed the How To directions.
Is this what you are looking for? Importing wordpress.com post snippets into a Facebook fan page (includes 5 methods)
If not then maybe you are referring to “publicize”. See > http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/
Yessss! The second post was the article I needed. Fabulous, thank you, thank you, thank you! I appreciate your help. :)
You’re welcome and happy blogging. :)
