Some posts added to custom menu appear as 'drop downs', but others don't. Why?
-
I have searched the forum and support and apologise for this question. I thought I had cracked it because some posts added to the custom menus appear in the drop down sub menu,(under the header ‘pages’) but adding existing posts to the custom menu( even when categorised and the categories are added to the menu) do not. It seems choosing the ‘parent’ when posts are created is not offered under ‘edit post’ options. How do I change the posts to make this happen?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Some themes support dropdown natively and some don’t. But all themes support custom menus which do have dropdowns. http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-tag-pages-and-posts-to-your-menu There are many common errors, misunderstanding and misconceptions when creating custom menus and you can read about them here > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2011/12/19/custom-menus/

Thank you. I’m sorry I did not reply earlier but received no notice of your reply. I have created a custom menu, and managed to add (some) posts to it as ‘children’ under parents when creating the post. But simply adding posts (afterwards) to the custom menu does not bring them up as drop downs. I wondered whether I could edit posts in some way to delineate them under ‘parent’. I promise I have read the support pages and forum questions. There must be some essential instruction I am missing.

There are many differences between pages and posts and you have confused the two. http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ With Pages we have the option of creating hierarchical structure. As I said above there are many common errors, misunderstanding and misconceptions when creating custom menus and you can read about them here > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2011/12/19/custom-menus/ Please do that now.
