"Sorry, that site already exists."

  • I have not used WordPress before. I went to a WordPress page captioned: Get started with WordPress.com by filling out this simple form:

I skipped to the last field “Blog Address” and ahead of the already filled in portion, entered a name that I would like to use for my blog. I got the message: “Sorry, that site already exists.”

Curious to see the existing site with the name I like, I went to: (the name I like).wordpress.com.

That opened a WordPress page with the message: (the name I like).wordpress.com is no longer available. The author has deleted this blog.

I am wondering; will (the name I like).wordpress.com be forever unavailable, even if the former blogger does not use it?

I do not see how reusing a blog address might be any more problem than that posed by reusing a domain name that has expired and reused by another person.

Thanks in advance for informative answers.
