I am receiving 300 – 450 spams a day on both of my blogs. They are the same people. Some are very disgusting XXX. I am embarrassed to have received them. I delete them permanently and the next day they are there once again. PLEASE HELP …!!!!

    Thank you ..

The blog I need help with is

Don’t delete them; mark them as Spam. That way Akismet learns and sends them directly to the spam folder so you never have to see them.

Thank you so much. I am going to do it that way. I appreciate the help for this.

    Good Evening …
I tried following the instructions from – raincoaster – but it hasn’t worked.
It is getting worse. Now, my comments are not appearing anywhere on my blog and my blog following aren’t coming to my e-mail box. I post on my blog and usually get quite a few comments.
This started when I upgraded to a url without – WordPress – in the url.
I am starting to get discouraged. Could someone please contact me so that I know this is being read.
    Thank You …..

Purchasing a domain mapping upgrade has ZERO effects on spammers.

The vast and overwhelming majority of all so-called information on the internet is spam. Over 80% of all so-called comments submitted to blogs every day are spam. Spam comes in waves. There are human beings who get paid to post spam. There are robotic programs that post spam.

On the spam that Akismet catches on it takes only seconds to click “empty spam” and you don’t even have to click “empty spam” if you don’t want to. Akismet will maintain comments it has caught for 15 days from the time they were received, and then it will delete the comment automatically.

Aksimet is a learning engine. If you get spam that slips by Akismet then mark it as spam (do not delete it) and over time Akismet will learn it’s spam.

There is no such thing as eliminating all spam but Akismet works very well. For more information please take the time to read “5 things every blogger should know about spam” on this page Akismet: How it works

Now, my comments are not appearing anywhere on my blog and my blog following aren’t coming to my e-mail box.

I’ll tag this thread for Staff to examine what’s going on with your own comments. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Thank you for responding so quickly.

I can understand that some SPAM can get through. It’s a constant struggle for many internet sites. But, when it’s XXX or the same commercial ones it blocks my followers.

It’s quite common that we all blog and wish to hear what our followers feel. It’s how I improve my writing and photography skills.

I will check out that information on “5” things bloggers should know about SPAM.
    Thanks again.

In this case, I recommend contacting the Akismet team directly for help: at

    Thank you!

I’ve gone to the I haven’t heard from them. I read th 5 things bloggers should know about SPAM. At the end, it mentioned purchasing a program. I thought SPAM blockers were on WordPress already.
The e mail notifications from the blogs I follow are not arriving in my e mail box yet. I realize I can go to my Reader to see new posts but there are a few that I faithfully follow and I cannot access them all the time through Reader.
Thank you for any help you might be able to give me.

Akismet should contact you soon :)

Make sure that you have the e-mail notification settings for the blogs you follow correctly set at and

@tahir9110- generally speaking in this forum sig lines are frowned upon. Your username is already linked to your site.

Also, perhaps you’d like to know that Akismet is enabled by default on

@jen – I think he just wants traffic – either that or really does not understand WordPress

@auxclass – Thanks. I noticed the numerous bumped threads after I saw this one. No worries. :)
