Would it be possible to add a staging area for when themes get switched? Example I want to change themes and would like the new theme all ready to go while leaving the existing theme public. That way I can get the new theme setup as I want it. Maybe as a premium feature?

The blog I need help with is jariangibson.com.

We can register as many free blogs as we wish and what I advise is that every blogger needs a test blog. Make it private and create a mirror blog in it by importing the content from your main blog into it. That way it can be used to test anything and everything one may wish to do with their main blog in their mirror blog . Also note that if you keep importing periodically you have a back-up blog in case you ever need it.

That is one solution I have considered but how does that work for premium themes? Do I have to purchase for both blogs? Would like to see this functionality without having to do two separate blogs.

P.S. Are you aware of the Theme Customizer?

Yes but can’t save as I go especially if I want to tweak over time before making public.

I have flagged this thread so it will be moved to the Ideas Forum for you.

One of the recent changes to the Customize area was to add the ability to save snapshots. It isn’t exactly the same as staging, but it does give you a chance to save changes as you work, and you could switch between the original settings and the new ones if you saved a snapshot before customizing further.

To find the snapshots, go to Appearance → Themes → Customize → and click the icon at the top right of the blue menu.
