Stats and also links not working in summaries
Stats can be seen from the dashboard. If you go to your dashboard and look just above the latest post information there’s a link that says “Blog Stats”.
A Ping? When someone else links to your blog (from their blog) it will appear as an incoming link (or trackback) in your dashboard. Does that make sense?
As for the theme question, I’m not sure. I don’t like the theme that you’ve got (Hemmingway I think) and so have never used it or investigated…
Hope this helps
And also, why is it that when a post is summarised on the page (with a “read on…” link) any links in that post don’t work on the main blog site view, but they work fine once you go to the page for that post?
Ping, in this case, is actually a notice sent back to the original blog that you are linking to to state that you have created such a link. (Actually that’s a trackback but it can be used in this way as well.) Another use of the word is your blog sending out notice that you have updated. Services like pingomatic and blo.gs compile lists of such with your subjects and present this to their visitors.
That’s standard for WP and for most blog software I believe. All that’s presented on the main page is the summurary of the article, much like an introduction. To get to the “meat” of the article, the visitor of the article clicks through.
Thanks for the help.
Re the theme, I mean that if you go to my main blog page, there’s a link in my post (the last word displayed – “Here”) that doesn’t work. Go to “read on” and it works fine. Odd.
Found the stats, thank you! Clearly I didn’t look with my eyes… Can anyone else view them, or just me?
*Reads drmike’s post more thoroughly* – Aha. I’m not familiar with blogging software, so it’s all new to me.
I see it alot in News sites as well. It drives up the page views. Dirty way of doing it but… *shrug*
