    Hello,

I’m in the process of migrating my WordPress to an externally hosted site. According to a number of resources, it seems that once I’ve got Jetpack installed, I’ll be able to migrate my subscribers over to my new blog.

I was wondering what, if anything, I need to do to migrate my subscribers over?

    Old (wordpress.com): http://nutrifit.wordpress.com/
    New: http://www.nutrifitonline.com/blog/

    Thanks.

Provided JetPack is activated You have done all you need to do except to patiently wait for Staff to make the subscribers and stats transfer for you. I tagged this thread for their assistance. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond.

Hi there, I started the process to transfer your followers to your new blog at http://www.nutrifitonline.com/blog/ as requested. They should appear on your new blog soon.

Your email followers will continue to receive email updates, and your WordPress.com followers will continue to see your new posts in the Reader. If your WordPress.com followers would like to receive email updates, as well, they can subscribe via email on your new blog.

Please let me know if you have any questions about that!

    Hi Rachel,

So, just to be clear, the migration is opt-in? All current subscribers (i.e. the ones from nutrifit.wordpress.com) will receive some sort of notification suggesting that they also sign up for the newsletter on the new blog?

It’s been 10 days since the migration has “started” and it seems that only 41 of our subscribers have come along. Why the discrepancy?

    Thanks.

    Hi there,

The migration isn’t opt-in — all of your WordPress.com and email followers were transferred to the new blog. However, WordPress.com followers will only see updates in the WordPress.com Reader. If they also want to receive email updates, they’ll need to sign up for those on your new blog. (They won’t receive a notification about it, but you’re welcome to invite your followers to sign up for email notifications if they want.)

The remaining followers that you see on your WordPress.com site are social media followers who get your updates via Publicize. If you’d like those followers to keep getting updates from your new blog, you’re welcome to set up Publicize on the new blog: http://jetpack.me/support/publicize/

Please let me know if you have any questions about that!

@masondan – I see that our Jetpack team is helping you with this via email. They’ll be able to finish up the process and transfer your followers for you. :)
