Suburbia theme: How do I activate full-width template?

  1. Hello!
I would like my first page to be full-width, but I can't find where I could activate it. Could anyone please help?

The blog I need help with is

  2. To activate a full-width page in Suburbia:

    1. Create a new page (or open an existing one for editing)
    2. In the page editing screen, look to the right hand column. Find the box labelled "Page Attributes".
    3. In the "Page Attributes" box, look for the "Template" heading. From the drop-down menu below the box, select "Full-width, no sidebar".
    4. Continue editing your page. When you're done, hit "Publish".

    I hope this helps!

  3. Hi, I see how to make a page full-width but what about the main template? I use the Suburbia theme and I've seen this on other Suburbia blogs e.g. this one seems to have a full-width main page.

    My blog is

    Thank you!

  4. @shelswift,

I'm not sure what you mean by the main template. Do you mean the front page? There is no difference in template wise between your site and the site you linked. The only differences I can see are that has white background and its site name and tagline are hidden.

You can change background color under Appearance -> Background. If you go to Appearance -> Header, you can hide the site name. Lastly you can delete tagline in Settings -> General.

    Hope it helps!

  5. Yes the front page. Thank you for you help—the difference I see is, I have 4 areas for posts whereas the site I linked has 5, do you know how I can change the layout to span more than 4 posts for the width of the page?

    Thanks again,

  6. michiecat, thank you for your help! Now I found out how to do one other thing I wanted to do, but still - I have the same question as shelswift does - how to activate 5 columns as in ? With more columns for posts the blog looks more spacious and easy to read.

    Thank you!

  7. aamelies, I just found that if I view my blog in the Chrome browser there are only 4 columns however if I use Firefox it shows up with 5—I believe this is an issue with the Chrome browser.

Does anyone know if this will be fixed/updated?

    Thanks again!

  8. Well, I always use Firefox and it shows 4 columns. So it is a matter of settings of a layout, no?
