Sudden stats increase

    Hi

I’ve noticed in the past day or so that my daily views have increased an abnormal amount, daily views have more than doubled which doesn’t seem right?

I haven’t promoted my post in anyway, and although the stats have gone up my likes or comments haven’t really improved. It appears that the traffic is being referred from Yahoo and all to the same post which is at least 4 months old?

Can you tell me if there is a glitch somewhere? and how I can sort this out?

    Thanks!
    Kamen

Is it an image that is getting the attention? Have you done Google searches using the same keywords that appear in the post in question? Please post an active link to the post in question so we can take a look at it.

I’ll flag this thread for Staff to take a look at your stats.

The same thing happened to me. I usually get about 250-350 hits a day. All of a sudden I jumped to 2500+ on Thurs and 5500 on Friday. And that’s when I noticed the same location on my Feedjit feed – someone from India hitting my blog every 30-32 minutes.

    Very strange!

Thanks, timethief, for answering my question on previous thread.

    Hi kakabeautyblog,

It looks like you just had a popular post that day – most of the hits were from image searches for ‘ombre nails’. :)

I put ip2 map tracker on my blog and confirmed what I already knew – the same dozen or so IP addresses were hitting me hundreds of times. Is there any way you can tell if they are trying to log into my account? Are you able to see anything like that? Thank you.

I’ve already given you security ie. anti-hacking advice another thread. In case you are worried about your content being stolen your can consult the tips here http://en.support.wordpress.com/content-theft-what-to-do/ and you can use copyscape http://copyscape.com to see if your content is being stolen and republished on other sites.

Oops! I posted the wrong link. This one is for preventing content theft. http://en.support.wordpress.com/prevent-content-theft/

    educationvoodoo,

I don’t see any evidence of “hacking”. No one is trying to log into your blog – it is just spam commenters.

Mark anything that is spam as spam, follow timethief’s great security advice in the other forum thread, and don’t worry too much about anyone getting into your blog.

Actually, I will be delighted if people steal my content and put it all over the place. It’s information that needs to be spread far and wide. I have people steal my images all the time and put them on other blogs – fine with me.

Okay. I just did a hit job on a local political candidate whose dad owned Humana. I’m just worried they’ll try to shut me down. I’ll stop worrying. Thanks a lot for all of your advice and your patience!

Oh, the hit job was 100% based on facts. Just want to get that straight.
