I'm aware we are not allowed to have third-party advertisers on our website, but what about having support? For instance, are we allowed to have an amazon.com banner on our website so our visitors can click through?

Infrequent use of the Amazon affiliate program is fine, as long as it's not the main feature of your blog.

I've already submitted to word ads. I guess I'll hear back soon. So, I understand we are able to use amazon links to specific products, but not the banners. If we wanted to use the amazon banner, what are out options? Are we to sever ties with wordpress?
Yes, you may use Amazon affiliate links to specific products, but not banners.
Advertising outside of WordAds at WordPress.com or infrequent Amazon product links is not allowed. For full details, please see:
If you require other advertising, you might be interested in a self-hosted (WordPress.org) installation. There are no restrictions on advertising if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities.

One of the reasons why I chose to go with wordpress instead of godaddy was because I wanted to follow the same steps of the website http://www.andersonandbryan.com
They have their blog set up through wordpress, yet they have an amazon banner. Can you inform me what steps they took to be able to have an amazon banner and still be a part of wordpress?
I'm just checking back to follow up on my question. Thanks.
I can't comment on that specifically, but in this aspect it seems subdued enough to not be a problem.
If we suspend you for any reason, you always have the chance to appeal.
Well, rest assured, my friend. WordPress shouldn't need to suspend me for any reason. I would see what wordads has to offer first before I decide to make any major moves. I always have the option to go with the .org route or ultimately sever ties with wordpress. Thanks for your help.
