switching domain name
Hi! My blog at WordPress is http://mllemartini.wordpress.com
Last April, I purchased 10 credits for Domain mapping – it worked great – no problem. My blog is at http://blogue.dianablue.com
Now I want to change my domain mapping to http://blogue.dianbourque.com
I go to GLOBAL DASHBOARD / OPTIONS / DOMAINS and click on ADD A DOMAIN. But then it tells me that I have no credits.
1. Can I undo my current domain mapping – and then use my current 10 credits to remap to my new domain.
2. If not, can I purchase another 10 credits? If so, how?
Thanks to everyone.
I am sure there is a way to do this, but since it is more backend stuff fixed up by staff, maybe ask them with a support request!
Thanks Trent – I did follow your advice.
It’s now October 31st, and I did finally switch my domain to blogue.dianebourque.com
I first wrote to Suport like you suggested, and they were helpful.
First, I had to change the DNS settings on my domain server. I deleted the DNS for the old blog, and entered the DNS for the new blog. But then there was a “bug” at WordPress. So the Support Team at WordPress remapped the domain options at WordPress/Global Dashboard/Options/Domains so that the old domain would be pointed to the new domain. I don’t think that I could have done this by myself. Thanks to WordPress.
Last night, I went to a gathering of Bloggers at Café Méliès in Montreal, and did highly recommend WordPress to several aspiring bloggers. If anyone wants more information on these gatherings which are very friendly, write to me at diane @ dianebourque.com
Good to hear that staff once again come through for you! Great stuff! I edited your email so that the ‘spammers’ don’t grab ahold of it and thanks for the update! It will be useful for others if they come across the same problems!
