Hi! How do you add a tag to an already existing post? I just uploaded photos for a digital media skills course that I am taking and would really enjoy feedback. I was hoping that by adding a tag I could attract attention to my blog and subsequently get some constructive criticism.

The blog I need help with is amdalessandro.wordpress.com.

You just edit the post, type the tag in the Tags module, click Add, click Update.
Or (faster) go to Posts > All Posts, hover under the post title, click Quick Edit, type the tag in the Tags field, click Update.

More important than adding a tag is replacing the useless “Uncategorized” category with a meaningful one.

I am not sure that I really understand the “uncategorized” vs. tags. Can you explain it to me?

    See the support documentation please:
    categories vs tags
    posts assign categories

Uncategorized is the default Category which is automatically assigned to post when we fail to assign another Category to them. Note that as it is a default category we can create another default category to replace Uncategorized. Setting the Default Category > http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/#setting-the-default-category

Also note that there is a forum thread that contains a lot of helpful information on assigning Tags and Categories to posts.

Also note that retroactively adding tags to your post to jump it to the top of tag pages is considered tag spamming and could subject your blog to suspension. I’ve seen it happen.

The topic ‘Tags’ is closed to new replies.
