Tags for linked posts

    Are tags disabled for posts containing nothing but a web link? I have tried adding tags to two separate posts that contain nothing but a web link and it seems that they (the tags) are stripped from the posts. If this is a default setting? Is there any way I can manually turn it off? Or is this tag stripping a “global effect”affecting all WordPress posts? Thanks.
