Tags not working?? – unable to publish or reach audience?

I am having problems with tagging, and my posts coming up on the part of the site where my post is advertised, so nobody can see it?

This has been happening since yesterday. The last two posts do not show, apart from people who are logged.

I have gone back into the posts, checked and the right tags are there. It isn’t because there are a lot of new posts either, as the post I put up before the last 2 posts does show.

The tags I am looking at are sociopath, psychopath, comedy, humour, well any of the tags my posts are not showing? They are not being publicised for some reason?

Is there a reason for this, and is there anything that I am doing wrong?

Other people being able to see what I write is important, and i am really confused what I am doing wrong?

    Thank you.

The blog I need help with is datingasociopath.com.

I am finding that without this…. traffic is slowing right down… I have been back through, re-checked, and all the tags are there, why are my posts not showing?

Woah! You are spamdexing and search engines can detect that and have detected that.

When it comes to Categories and Tags, assigning the least combined number of relevant ones is the rule of thumb. Will you please check out the reasons for non-appearance here?

If you have assigned a combined total that exceeds 15 Categories/Tags to your posts, then you need to edit and delete. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/edit-posts-screen/ After removal note it may take several days for your posts to begin displaying there.

Aragh I am trying to resolve this and making it worse.

I just unpublished it, and put it to draft….. thinking maybe republishing it would help.

But now there is no option to publish? It just says draft or pending review. I dont want to delete and do a different one, as I have comments on it, some people made earlier.

I don’t really understand what spamdexting is? I have only put tags which relate to the post that I am writng. So for example the one – funniest things that sociopaths say i put these tags

sociopath, dating, liar, betrayal, psychopath, con man, compulsive lying, love, deception, manipulation, relationships, lying, blogging, blog, laughter, humour, comedy

Which are all relevant to what the post is about. Does this mean that my posts are blocked? And why can I now not publish the one that was previously on my wall?

Thank you for your help!! :)

Deleting and republishing is not helpful. Doing that simply breaks links of posts that are already published and indexed by search engines like Google. Consider that Google sends significant traffic to blogs while wordpress.com topics pages send a dribble.

You need to do what I said above. Edit the posts http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/edit-posts-screen/ and remove the superfluous categories and or tags from them. Then click “update”.

Which are all relevant to what the post is about.

Ummm … I’m a librarian and I am going to shoot from the lip here so prepare yourself. Imagine if a librarian sent you to 18 different shelves to find one book. How impressed would you be?

    categories: Relationships, Humour, Dating
    tags: compulsive lying

Right, I know now to keep to less than 15. Thank you for the advice. Panic over I managed to put the post back up again.

Does this mean that I have been blocked? As the link says something about mature content? Which I do not think it is? its a resource and advice page for support. Some of the topics are different things – like sociopath, humour and comedy, as this was what the post was about. Is this going to pick up as spam? as it genuinely wasn’t.

If I was blocked how would I find this out?

Thank you and sorry for so many questions, it is just that I am new, so do not really know what the rules are, I will think next time I am doing tagging.

If your posts have had too many categories/tags then they aren’t appearing ion the Topics pages and won’t appear there for several days after your do the editing to remove the excess categories/tags.

We Volunteers do not know if your blog has been reported as containing mature content or not; only Staff can determine that. I tagged this thread for a Staff response for you.

Lol I laughed there time thief!! I wish I did have such an organised mind. (why I haven’t done categories)…

And those categories wouldn’t reach people who are coming out of abusive relationships, or those interested in psychopathy. Which is, I guess where my usual readers are from. Normally it wouldn’t include humour.

But this has taught me to SLOW DOWN and THINK … :) but i appreciate that I will never be as good as you, in terms of librarian thinking but I will try!!

So, if I keep the tags down ( I do not put categories, as I don’t have those on my page) – it should be ok?

Thank you so much for your help.

    Hi there!

I can verify that your site has not been flagged or reported for mature content.

Hey thank you so much for you help. Removing tags has resolved the problem!! I can now see them as published again. Panic over!!

Am loving wordpress, thank you for your help!! :)

Removing tags has resolved the problem!

Great news and best wishes for happy blogging!

Howdy – I’m actually having this same problem. My tags are around 3-4 with only 3-4 categories as well. Is there any way my content has been flagged?

    Here’s the site: http://racesrepsramblings.wordpress.com/

None of my tags pull my posts into the reader. My blog has been active about 2 weeks, so I’ve given it some time, but it still isn’t working.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You have only two published posts.

    5. Your blog is very new. It can take a few days before new blogs are included on topic pages. Brand new blogs might not have enough posts for us to accurately determine whether or not they’re spam. http://en.support.wordpress.com/topics/#missing-posts

OOPS! I was wrong. You do have more posts than two. Sorry. I tagged this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond.

Strange…from what I see I have 10 published posts and 3 pages. I checked my privacy settings to make sure they were all public as well. Which posts are you seeing?

I saw reason number 5, but I’ve seen blogs newer than mine pop up in the reader which is why I started thinking something might be off.

    Thanks for the quick response!

Ours posts above overlapped. Please read my Mar 20, 2013, 9:34 AM
    comment just above yours.

Awesome – thanks for your help timethief!

    Hey Timethief,
So far no response (or resolution) – any idea on how long I should anticipate? I’m happy to just be patient or let me know if there’s another avenue to go down to get this fixed.
