Text column too broad

  1. Dear friends, I've got a problem with Blogum theme in my site mediascanning.wordpress.com. If you take a look of my last post, you will see that the text column is too broad and some words at the end of each line are hidden. Therefore, they are illegible. I have not managed to solve it. It's the first time that this happens since I have the blog open.

    The blog I need help with is mediascanning.wordpress.com.

  2. Hi jordifortuny1,

    Unfortunately it looks like the Blogum theme has been retired from WordPress.com. You can read about this at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/blogum?replies=5.

    A quick highlight from a staff member,

    Retired themes are also more likely to break as we add new features, because they are no longer maintained and aren't a priority with bug fixes.

    This could be a reason for your site's present issues. As I can't test out the theme to see if I can problem solve it for you, perhaps another volunteer will be able to do so.

    As well, if you wish for the staff to review your thread, you will need to add the tag 'modlook' to it.

  3. Hi @jordifortuny1,
    Do you know how to add CSS in the customizer?
    If not, go to this wordpress.com tutorial.
    What seems to be happening is you have a nested <div> that is too wide.
    Here is the place where I believe the error lies...
    <div class="page view" id="content">
    ...and in this style

    #content {
    	float: left;
    	width: 705px;
    }

    When I changed "width" to "max-width" it seemed to fix the problem.
    Try this in the custom css field
    '/* Change I made to fix hidden text on right */
    @media
    #content {
    float: left;
    max-width: 705px;
    }
    /* End Hidden text change */`
    if it doesn't work you can remove it.

  4. Thanks, James!

  5. And thanks, quidest.

  6. Cool suggestion @quidest!

    @jordifortuny1, you will require a Premium or Business account to utilize the CSS customization by @quidest. You can learn about the different WordPress.com plans at https://wordpress.com/pricing/.

    Best of luck,
    James
