Text / HTML widget looks weird and may not even be working right

As you can see by a peep at my blog sidebar, I have been trying to create a Webshots slide show with a code they provide. It’s a lengthy code so I won’t reproduce it here (unless requested). What I get is the title that I give the slide show and some kind of code that is in brackets < and > . When the link is clicked on, you see a black screen courtesy of WS which looks fine, but I’m not getting any images. It says it’s “playing” but not for me. Is that just me and my stupid draggy dialup, or is the code really not working? – thanks

The blog I need help with is wildwanderingirl.wordpress.com.

Correction – you don’t see the brackets but it is an http: kind of link for an .swf file.

I’m not real handy with text widgets, haven’t really done much with them before now.

We’re not allowed to use flash, javascript and iframe codes, for security reasons. Flash can be embedded if converted into the right shortcode, so yes paste the code here between backticks.

All righty, here it is. I do see the words Shockwave Flash. That would be great if you could help me convert it–

    `<embed src=”http://p.webshots.com/flash/smallslideshow.swf” flashvars=”playList=http%3A%2F%2Fcommunity.webshots.com%2Fslideshow%2Fmeta%2F533937057oWGCoL%3Finline%3Dtrue&inlineUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fcommunity.webshots.com%2FinlinePhoto%3FalbumId%3D533937057%26src%3Ds%26referPage%3Dhttp%3A%2F%2Foutdoors.webshots.com%2Fslideshow%2F533937057oWGCoL&postRollContent=http%3A%2F%2Fp.webshots.com%2Fflash%2Fws_postroll.swf&shareUrl=http%3A%2F%2Foutdoors.webshots.com%2Fslideshow%2F533937057oWGCoL&audio=on&audioVolume=33&autoPlay=false&transitionSpeed=5&startIndex=0&panzoom=on&deployed=true” menu=”false” quality=”best” width=”425″ height=”384″ name=”WebshotsSlideshowPlayer”base=”http%3A%2F%2Fp.webshots.com%2Fflash%2F” wmode=”opaque” allowScriptAccess=”always” loop=”false” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” pluginspage=”http%3A%2F%2Fwww.macromedia.com%2Fgo%2Fgetflashplayer”></embed>

(I changed the dimensions to the right ones for your sidebar.)

OBoy! – thanks a ton! Now we’ll see how it looks.

Never gave gigya a thought before but I will now. Maybe I can change the urls for other seasonal albums at WS once I get more familiar with this kind of shortcode.

Darn. It’s tiny and the images still aren’t playing as they should. Not sure how it looks to anyone with a fast connection?

It’s also causing the purty animated snow to freeze up (no pun intended).

    Your sidebar width is:
    Comet 270/155 – see note
Comet: Double number = if one sidebar or two

The video plays for me without “freezing” and I’m using Firefox 8.

The snow is snowing again *G* which just means my dialup was being typically wonky at that time of evening. The slide show is displaying images now, too. I haven’t pressed play yet, to see what it will do on my end. But hey, as long as everyone else can see it and it works smoothly for them, I’m satisfied. Such a kind and charitable person. ;D But I decided to try it partly for selfish ends: to catch the attention of viewers and tempt them to go farther and visit my Webshots…
