  I am trying to change the header image for the theme but its not working. Please help me.

  Hi,

  The default image at the top of the static front page of the Gateway demo, and of your site, is a featured image. The Homepage Template section of the Gateway theme guide says:

  If no Featured Image is assigned, the Custom Header Image will be used instead.

  If the featured image is removed, the header image, if one is set, will be displayed. See the Removing a Featured Image section of the Featured Images support page.
