The page isn't redirecting properly

  1. The page isn't redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

    * This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.

and I have done the whole thing.

  2. I get that error once in a while. Give the server a few seconds to get over whatever it's doing, and hit CTRL-F5 to force a server refresh of the page.

  3. I'm getting the same error. I created a blog for personal reasons, and can't log in. I can still log in to my miklb.wordpress site, but not the new one. It's there, I can surf to the site if I log out of my original one.

I also tried deleting all cookies.

  4. Just as a follow up, I fired up Safari, with a clean cache and zero cookies, and navigated to the new blog. Loaded fine. Tried logging in with my password, and the redirect bounced around about a dozen times, and I got a similar error.

(I had been using FireFox that had saved passwords, history, etc)

  5. The redirect issue has been discussed a few times in the past. It also appears that Firefox has a large number of concerns. has been released and you should upgrade. Hopefully this will fix the issue.

It may also be a firewall issue as there's outstanding concerns with firewalls and Firefox. (You have read the outstanding issue list with Firefox, right?)

We've discussed Safari before as well and most of the issues have been with Safari's lack of support with many of the internet standards current in effect. (ie HTML 4.01 support, WYSIWYG support, JAVAScript support, etc.)

  6. Just so that I'm understanding you correctly. I have no problems logging into my original site with either FF or Safari, or any of my scores of other password protected sites, but you are telling me that the problem is completely on my end?

And you are blaming Safari for "lack of support with many of the internet standards current in effect".

I'm assuming though then that if I switched over to my PC and used IE that I'd be fine? Because we all know they are so up on "support for many of the internet standards current in effect".

  7. I think what I suggested is to upgrade your Firefox browser to see if that fixes the issue. :)

It's been discussed before and in almost every case, it's been a user with Firefox. At least with those who remember to list their browser. If you do a search for "redirecting", (ie internal and Google's listing just in case) you'll see a large number of threads covering this.

Again, Safari users have reported problems in the past and, unfortunetly, the causes have been due to Safari's lack of support for a number of internet standards. Again, internal and Google's search.

  8. As I suspected, updating FF didn't do anything but require me to disable an extension that I like to use :(

  9. IE 7 didn't like things either. Wonder what it is with me and this second site?

    Thanks for your time drmike

  10. Today I got this for the first time when trying to log in:

I'm on Firefox as well but it's never happened before. So I cleared cookies and cache and all of that and tried again. Got the same message. But when I went to my site again, I was now somehow logged in when I couldn't before.

  11. I'm getting the same problem. This is I added a new blog to my account and now I can't log into both account via the main site because it says "The page isn't redirecting properly", but when I check my site again, it appeared to have logged in...but my second blog does appear inaccessible, no drop downs or anything that would direct me to it. When I try to log in from the second blog, it still gives me the same redirect issues.

    What gives?

  12. Ooops problem solved. I guess it was a server maintainence issue.

I've been having this same problem for three days now. I will try updating Firefox and see what happens...

  14. paintingcolorblind

Ok, tried updating Firefox. No such luck. Tried IE, but the links are all the way at the bottom of the page, and image uploading isn't working. It's been over a week to any suggestions :~)

  15. Paintingcolorblind - your sidebar is dropping to the bottom because of this post:

The picture in that post is too big and is breaking the layout. Try making the image smaller and that *should* fix it.

Thanks for your help! That solves one problem :~)

    found a solution posted here:

  18. *cough* Could have sworn that that was stated in the posts up above as well. :)

  19. Right, hello all my turn now to be lame. Its to do with the:

"The page isn't redirecting properly Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete."

message I also get. Everything was working fine, and then poof, it just started to wig out on me. In the address bar, when I type my URL in, it just repeats "/bitterblog/bitterblog..." 20 or so times, which seems part of the problem.

I had re-directed my site within GoDaddy to point to the wordpress folder (called bitterblog) on my root dir, thought this was the problem, so disabled this, yet it still doesn't work. Is there an answer guys, I struggled to find one!

  20. Hello! You are actually in the wrong forum if you have a host. This is the multiuser blogging platform and our only host here is wordpress.

If you're hosted by no-daddy then you need to ask your host this question or go over here because we run on different software than does and we cannot help you here.

  21. oops, thank you timethief yes, no daddy indeed!

    Peace x

  22. Namaste :)
