Tips on advertising?

  1. Does anyone have any good tips on advertising your blog site?

I really need help because I dont get many hits!!!

    Please help me!! :(

  2. A link to your blog in your membership here would be a start. :)

  3. Tried a hunch, and it worked:

It would help if you had more text in your posts. Also, you aren't using any tags. All of your posts are set to "Uncategorized". One of the ways I get more visitors is through tags. Most of my visitors either arrive through WordPress or Technorati tags or by clicking on my name in the forums.

Participate in other online forums that allow you to provide a website address that turns your name into a link, such as this forum. A lot of people will click it out of curiosity. However, if you don't provide the address in your profile (such as you haven't done here), your name won't be a link and no one can click it.

  4. I see you're not listed on Google yet. Submit your site here on the right - Submit it to only the top 40 search engines. And also claim your blog at Technorati and place Technorati's buttons and such on your site. And make sure to ping your blog. I ping mine at and And email other similar sites like yours for link exchanges on each other's blogrolls. And to get listed on search engines, try to get your blog on at least one person's blog that is already listed on Google. This way when they get indexed, your site will then be indexed. Or edit your profile here on the forum so it includes your site to your username on the forum when clicked.

  5. yay!! me too.... I wanna see other finance related blogs...
    poke me!!!

  6. @greatproductreviews
That's nice. But exactly how you thought posting what you did above to this thread could actually help the original poster escapes me.

You can examine the tagging pages and find other blogs like your own :)

  7. Thanks everyone!!

    You've helped alot!!

  8. Thumbs up kiturocks. :)

  9. There are tons of ways to get loads of free advertising to your blog. First of all make sure you submit your feed link to all the feed directories. Let me tell you there are tons of them. You can also get a account and really key in on some good keywords. This takes a little more work than the first tip but is well worth the time you invest in it. You cal also record podcasts that advertise your blog. Then submit your podcast feed link to all the podcast feed directories.

Come hit up our blog at to get even more tips. We even have a free 14 day blueprint to Internet Success you can download to check out.

Our blog is only a few weeks old and we're averaging close to 300 visits a day now using those same tactics.

  10. Newbies should be warned that SEO techniques will get your blog deleted here at

  11. "Newbies should be warned that SEO techniques will get your blog deleted here at"

    Please explain raincaster.

You must be referring to the practice of blogging for the search engine bots instead of to humans.

The idea is to always be sharing good content.

  12. Perhaps I put things a little strongly. Let's look at some examples:

Tag spamming has gotten people warned (ie using far more tags than are appropriate) and if memory serves suspended at least once. SEO games like "hit the front page of Google" have gotten blogs deleted (routinely). Viral Links also put the blog at risk for deletion.

A discreet and relevant use of keywords won't blow up your blog, but the Terms of Service are pretty clear if you actually read them that SEO activities are frowned on and can cause your blog to be deleted at the discretion of staff.

  13. Thanks raincaster and timethief. I decided to take down my own links as well. Not really into worrying about whether or not having links to my own sites categorize my blog as a splog. So to err on the side of caution I took them down.

I may just download a template from .org and be done with it.

But I so love how fast gets indexed by the big three.

  14. Links to other sites you run won't by themselves get your blog deleted unless you put them in every post. Then it looks like the primary purpose of your blog is to drive traffic to those other sites, and that is specifically against the ToS.

  15. Really?
I didn't know that! I haven't been using wordpress very long...

  16. It's all a learning process. I just reported a blog where every single post had a link to the same online magazine, even if the magazine didn't have anything to say on the subject; it obviously existed only to drive traffic to that magazine. But most normal uses of a blog are perfectly fine.

  17. Just don't buy links. Could get you booted off Google.

  18. This is for time thief member....

well sorry if i came across to you as that....
I posted here so I can get the same advice since im a newbie
and am not an html expert...much less as a blogger...

I was thinkin I was saving time if I don't post the same question outside
    of kiturocks post.....

don't you think its a bit more efficient....

  19. No. Start your own threads if it is not the same issue. Do not hijack existing threads.

There are several threads in the Off Topic forum for blog promotion and post promotion.

  20. I think a lot of folk go at this ass backwards. I think the point of blogging is well - blogging. If you are a good blogger traffic and links follow. If you are not they won't. But questions like *how do I get more traffic* put the cart before the horse. It is a tough question but people need to ask *why the heck should anyone even want to visit their blog?*. :)

  21. well sorry...

    and to answer your post...

I am posting here with the same issue....
so I think am not hijacking anything here...
guys please...i didnt have any intention
to make it look like i was destroying your
    animated discussion.....

you make me feel as if I butted force....

    if you feel so offended.....

    I'm SORRY......won't bother you ever....

  22. I meant the previous post in reply to raincoast member....

In case you get any different ideas again....

  23. I'm not offended. I'm used to enforcing forum etiquette and don't get emotional about it. I suggest when someone corrects you that you try to take it without emotion either. It's not personal.

"Poke me" aka "Go visit my blog!" is not the same issue as "how do I get the word out about my site?" As I said, there are several "Go visit my blog" type threads in the Off Topic forum. The proper action now is to go there and make the post there.

  24. hahahha......I see now our misunderstanding....sorry....

I thought " poke me" meant "tag me"

just like what they do in facebook where a friend tries to get your attention by "poking" you....
getting my attention not necessarily saying to visit me.... just shows what a newbie I am in blogging and social networking too....

  25. @kiturocks
I know you are a Club Penguin member and that this is your thread. I know most of what's written in this thread will not answer your original question so I'm posting these links for you again
    From the FAQs
    From the forum searchbox

  26. I wanted to ask the same question. I am taking the advice of "Not On Strike" by posting my blog address.

    That was easy!

  27. @bitterexwifes: You are only half way there. If you look at your members profile here you can add the url of your blog. That way everytime you post if anyone clicks on your name - they go - autoomattically - to woot woot - your blog. How cool is that?:) Then in the unlikely event we say anything interesting folk can go direct to our blogs. :)

  28. {smiling and waving to atthe404}

We all have two profiles at One on our blogs and one here in the forum.

Here’s how to link your username to your blog in your blog -> Users -> Profile
In the right hand column locate “Website” and type in the link to your blog example:

P.S. Read what abbydoncrafts has to say. I agree with him whole-heartedly

Linking your username to your blog in the forum
    (1) Go up to the top right hand corner of this forum page and look for “Welcome,_________ ! View your profile” and click “View your profile”.

    (2) Next click “edit this information”.

    (3) Complete the fields being sure that where it says website that you enter (no period at the end or the link won’t work)

    (4) Once you’re done click “Update Profile”. Voila! Now every time you sign into the forum we can click on your username and your blog will be linked to it.

    (5) Also note that there is a complete record of every post that you make to the forum on your forum profile page. Everyone in the forum can access it by simply clicking on “Member” next to your username. :)

P.S. Note what abbydonkrafts has to say about building a blogging community in this thread.
