Title? With A Header? What?
FIrst off, here is my blog…
Esentially, my header image is going to display my blog name. I don’t like having to have my blog title at the top. Yet, when I remove it, it doesnt the title of my blog in the tab.
Can someone help?
The blog I need help with is mtaboy94.wordpress.com.
I believe that’s how 2010 theme is developed.
IT seems that way with all of them though. I kinda want it to look like
this persons header… http:///www.transitblogger.com
@mtaboy94 You can remove the headline/tagline by doing following goto → settings → General → Remove Site Title → Then Click update/save at the bottom of the page.
@mtaboy94: You need a theme that includes the “Hide Text” option; see here:
Can you give me an example or a tutorial??
@mtaboy94 Certain themes have a custom header option with a button that says hide text the button can be found in the header options section if the theme supports “Hide Txt”
You ahave the Digg3 theme on your blog now. You don’t need a tutorial as that theme has a “hide text” option. Go here and look closely > Appearance > Themes > Header
On that page you will see the “hide text” button. Upload your image click “hide text” and then click “Save Changes”.
I get it now, thanks!
Can someone tell me of a good design though? I want to have my background and a big header that has the HIDE TEXT option!
Your answer can be found here if you’re referring “Design” in regards of a different “Theme” with the option of Hide Text” → https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/title-with-a-header-what?replies=10#post-467953
Also this thread has been moved from the “Questions” forum and merged with the “Themes” forum.
The link Panos posted is to a post on his blog that contains a list all of the themes that do have the “hide text” feature. This is a link to the list of all themes that have customizable image headers > http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/custom-header-image/ Only a few of the new themes have the option of uploading a background image into them.
You can use the search utility and Feature Filters in your Dashboard > Appearance > Browse Themes > Feature Filters to locate themes of interest to you. (A-Z, Popular, Features)
Each theme has a thumbshot and a features summary description. You can browse and when you find one of interest you can click “Preview”. When you are ready to make your selection you can click “Activate”.

@slikbonez, just to confirm. Isn’t above a bad decision for search indexing? Removing the title of the blog from the general settings effectively renders your blog orphan.

I acknowledge that your question is directed to slikbloezs but would like to weigh in on it. Would I ever delete the Blog Title and Tagline from Settings > General simply for aesthetic reasons?
No! I am ware that if I did that I would be deleting they most important link on my blog, for as you suggest from a search engine and SEO POV I would be rendering my blog an orphan.
@arifsali Correct it’s a bad option because of the reasons stated above. Some people don’t take blogging very serious or don’t care about the technical effects some settings could cause… It was my fault for not explaining the offset chain of affects by removing the title and tag line can cause.
@slikbonez that was my orriginal problem. I needed the blog name to still show up but not on the header/
Thanks for everything!
