Transfer existing domain to a WordPress.com blog

  • Hi!

I would like to transfer an existing domain to a WordPress.com blog. (I have read in the ‘All about domains’ help entry that I should contact Support for this.)

The domain in question is ‘uam-clil.com’. I own it, and it is currently registered with a company called ‘All in Hosting’. (However, my contract with them expires soon.)

I wish to transfer said domain to my blog ‘uamclil.wordpress.com’.

Currently, I am using a Free Plan here at WordPress. It is my intention to upgrade to a Premium Plan, and make use of the WordPress service to use a .com domain for my blog.

For this, I wish to use the ‘uam-clil.com’ domain, once it is transfered from All in Hosting to WordPress.

Could you please advise me as to how I can proceed with this?

    Kind regards!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi

You can follow the steps given here. Please note that you will need to upgrade to a paid plan.

    Good luck!

  • Hi There,
You can map your existing domain to your WordPress account, but yes you will have to upgrade your plan to do this. Here is a support site that can guide you through that:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
    Hope this helps!
    Thanks

  • @uamclil – As WordPressdotcom does not accept incoming domain transfers, if you need to move your domain, you should transfer it to a new and accredited domain registrar.

After doing so, you can follow the steps that both thamarakandabada and jenlynnemc have given you.

Let us know if you have more questions about that.
