Transfer files from wordpress.com blog to a new self-hostedThemeForest WP theme

Before I go ahead with the purchases involved (buying a hosting package from 1and1.com for a domain I own, as well as a ThemeForest WordPress theme), I want to know if and how I can do the following: transfer or upload the files from my existing domain.wordpress.com blog to the new self-hosted domain, on which I’ll be using with a ThemeForest WordPress theme.

I’m also wondering if it would be better to simply build the new blog from scratch.

I am quite new at this. So I would really appreciate links, guidance, anything that is easy to understand.

    Thanks!

The blog I need help with is mindandbodyflow.wordpress.com.

It’s easy. Just go to your dashboard Tools page and click Export. Make sure you export media as well as text. Then on the new host’s blog dashboard, go to Tools and Import those blog contents.

Thank you for your quick answer! So, am I correct that I’m exporting the posts, pages, and media that I created? What about the subscribers and followers? Does that kind of information get exported, as well?

Is there anything else I need to know before doing this? Anything that can go wrong?

Also, in doing this, does this essentially gut my current website?

    Thanks!
