Transfering registration of .me domains
Now that you have added .me domains to the domains you can buy through WordPress.com, I want to know if at any point I’ll be able to purchase my renewal or transfer it to WP from Godaddy. It doesn’t seem right that I originally bought my domain at Godaddy, that I can’t do my renewal at WP, when you can buy new .me domains here.
I understand that I can’t do a domain registration transfer, so if & when can I do the switch? Do I have to let my domain expire at Godaddy in order to register it with WP? I’d rather give WP the money than GoDaddy…It seems like a lost opportunity for WP to capitalize…
I currently map my domain to be hosted here. I just don’t understand why I can’t ever move my renewal over?
The blog I need help with is pakos.me.
We can’t accept incoming transfers, but you can map it here following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/
If you really wanted to purchase your domain here, you would have to let it expire, but I don’t recommend that. Expired domains become the property of their registrar and are returned to the public pool at their discretion, which can often take anywhere from five to ninety days, if not more.
Thanks. :) That’s too bad.
I’ve not been happy with GoDaddy so I’ll probably transfer it to someone else when it’s up for renewal. Not being in the business of Domain registration, it just doesn’t make sense to me that if you can buy a domain at WP, you can’t transfer one here?
I guess that’s why I’m in banking…lol.
