I want to bring my Blogger/Blogspot blog over to WordPress. I looked through the “Moving a Blog” page in the Support section, and it looks like I’ll have to do a Guided Transfer. Is that my only option, or is there a better (i.e. cheaper) way?
Guided transfers are really more for people who already have a blog on wordpress.com and want to switch to the self-hosted version of wordpress.
You can automatically import your blogger posts into your free wordpress.com blog following the instructions here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/. If you decide the service here is too limited you can apply for a guided transfer if you wish, but you’ll probably want to get used to blogging with wordpress before you start spending money on transfers, domains and hosting.
You misunderstand what a guided transfer is for. It’s for moving wordpress.COM blog content to wordpress.ORG installs. You can move your Blogger (blogspot) content into a free hosted wordpress.COM blog free of charge.
