Transferring username to another account
I’m trying to consolidate two accounts, and I already transferred my blog from this account to my other one. Is it possible to transfer my username as well? If I delete this account, will the username be available for me to use on the other one?
If I delete this account, will the username be available for me to use on the other one?
No. There is no such thing as a username transfer. Usernames can be turned into blog addresses, but blog addresses cannot be turned into usernames.
So, just to clarify — if I delete this account, the username will be lost forever.
No. Username accounts are never deleted.
Blog URLs that are deleted are not recycled.
Provided you are logged in under the username account that registered the blog you can delete it by using these instructions. http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
Please note that deleted blog URLs are not recycled.
Username accounts are ever deleted but there are steps you can take that result in leaving only a throwaway email address behind.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/deleting-accounts/ please note the following:
1. You can go to My Account->Edit Profile and remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This only leaves the username behind.
2. To unsubscribe from email sent to you from WordPress.com, go here and click on “Block all subscription emails from WordPress.com”:
3. To ensure the account is locked up tightly, visit this site, generate a password of 15-20 characters, and change the account password to it:
4. While you cannot completely delete your Gravatar profile, you can remove all of your profile information easily through the “Edit My Profile” page here:
You can also hide your Gravatar profile from external access. Visit your profile page (click your name in the top navigation of the website), then click the “Hide My Profile” link in the bottom, right-hand corner.
