Trouble adding a Widget from another site

  1. Ok, I'm trying to add one of these Widgets from this ESPN site, , to my NBA blog.

I tried sticking the embed code it gives into a Text/HTML widget and it isn't working.

Any suggestions? Or what am I doing wrong?

The blog I need help with is

  2. Hi. It looks like those widgets use Flash. "Embed" tags are not allowed on WordPress.COM, however a workaround is to convert them into a Gigya shortcode as explained here:

  3. Ok, I put this on to my blog trying to get the NBA Top story, but I keep getting the MLB Top Story, can someone help me figure out what Im doing wrong?

Here's the code to the widget im trying to put on my site:

    <object width="300" height="387" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data=""><param name="flashVars" value="sport=nba&pid=espntopstory_1292732362968379843&espn=false&share=embed"><param name="movie" value="" ><param name="wmode" value="transparent"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><param name="allowNetworking" value="all"></object>

  4. Did you take a look at the link I gave you? It says what information to use in order to convert the code you are trying to insert (which is forbidden) into a Gigya shortcode (which is allowed).

  5. Yeah, I tried plugging it in, but must be doing something wrong.

When I plug the one I want in (NBA Top Story), it gives me the MLB Top Story. Stared at the code for about an hour now and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong..

  6. Okay. I think I got it sorted out for you this time. Compare the data from the original code with the new code below to see where each information fits.
    [gigya src="" width="300" height="387" quality="high" wmode="transparent" flashvars="sport=nba&pid=espntopstory_1292732362968379843&espn=false&share=embed"]

  7. Instructions here:

@Sergio: You got the post wrong but the shortcode right!

  8. @panos: Thank you for pointing me to the right post.

    @leftybc21: Sorry for the confusion!

  9. Awesome!

I see where I was messing up at now.

    Thanks for the help!
