Trouble Embedding Google Street View

I am trying to embed a google street view scene in a blog post. It worked on first try, then we I edited the post it didn't. I have cut and pasted the HTML from the google map page. Any help is appreciated.

The blog I need help with is williamsburgsrealestate.com.

  2. As far as I know, it can't be done. It's javascript, isn't it?

Please paste the code here between backticks, so we can look at it line by line.

  3. <iframe width="700" height="394" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" src="http://maps.google.com/maps/sv?cbp=12,297.27605397944484,,0,5&cbll=37.309829,-76.767735&v=1&panoid=&gl=&hl=en"></iframe>
    <small>View Larger Map</small>

  4. That cannot be used here, sorry. iframes are not allowed.

  5. Thanks, odd that it seemed to work at first.

  6. What is the difference in that and a regular google map which I can embed ?

    code for reg map:

    <iframe width="425" height="350" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" src="http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=114418637777095827713.0004648416bea7a659101&s=AARTsJolcb1PjEqrB9Ox00wRGZ8A39m18w&ll=37.315965,-76.751818&spn=0.095566,0.145912&z=12&output=embed"></iframe>
    <small>View Larger Map</small>

  7. Google maps are whitelisted, much as YouTube videos are:

  8. It can be done:
    http://support.wordpress.com/google-maps/
    @mrwilliamsburg,
Are you sure you are pasting the code into the Visual editor?

  9. @mrwilliamsburg: If the Support instructions won't work, just copy the URL of the map (the "src" part of the code you pasted) and use it with the googlemap shortcode in the html post editor. That would be:

    [googlemaps http://maps.google.com/maps/sv?cbp=12,297.27605397944484,,0,5&cbll=37.309829,-76.767735&v=1&panoid=&gl=&hl=en]

  10. This is odd:
Google gives you an option to customize the maps.
If you customize In street view and copy that code, wordpress does not accept the map.
If you customize in map view, wordpress does accept and embed the map.

  11. Interesting, I wonder if staff would fix that.

  12. Ok, so I'm not as dumb as I thought ? How does staff look into issues such as this ? Will they read the forum or do I submit the issue somewhere else ?

  13. ok. I contacted support. It is odd, but did you try it? May be I just did something dumb?

  14. No, I have tried it multiple times it doesnt work...Thanks

Did you paste the code for the street view/customize Google maps?
For some reason, my test blog is public so you can see:
a street view in the area where I work
the code I copied from the customize option at Google (unsuccessful)
    your code pasted in (successful)
etc. from maps of my own, medium and small, street views and maps.

  16. I just tried again unsuccessfully . Maps are no problem. It is just the street view I am having the problem with.

  17. [googlemaps http://maps.google.com/maps/sv?cbp=12,297.27605397944484,,0,5&cbll=37.309829,-76.767735&v=1&panoid=&gl=&hl=en]

  18. If it works when you paste it in the HTML editor, but messes up when you go back and try to edit it, then the solution (sadly) is to never, ever edit the post again. I've seen a couple of codes that work this way.

  19. No, sorry to disagree. Yes, I've seen code that works only if one stays in HTML forever, but I've switched back and forth between visual and HTML, changed themes, and it still applies. In fact with the code panaghiotisadam wrote, I've even pasted in in either visual or HTML.

  20. Yes, but I mean the street view. The OP said it worked until he edited it.

  21. Thats what I'm talking about is street view maps.

The first map I edited the code in Visual to make it all bold. still works.
The second map, I edited in Visual to make half of it italics. turns into a place in San Francisco.
Third map is just the code unedited but obviously I've moved from visual to HTML and back and changed themes etc. while it still works.

    ok, I give up.

  22. Hmm, peculiar. I wonder if it's theme related?

  23. Well, that's my test blog, and it's been in many different themes today. Not all, but quite a few. 6 or 7 at least. We don't know what sort of editing the OP did. I guess if you mess with the code directly (as when I made part of it italic) it would change.
This is exactly why I don't mess around with HTML, computers, cell phones and other technical stuff. Right.
