Trouble importing from Xanga

I try to import my Xanga blog. After downloading the ZIP archive and extracting the XML files, the system sends me the message “The file is not an xml file”.

Plase help.

See here for instructions on how to do a Xanga import http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/import-from-xanga/

Note that you must open the .zip export folder you get from Xanga and import ALL of the files included in the .zip folder individually.

If you continue to have trouble with your import, please try a different browser. http://browsehappy.com You might also try the WordPress importer rather than the Xanga-specific importer.

Hello, thanks for the assistance.

Did all the first steps, and got the message “The file is not an xml file”. I´ll try a different browser and post how it went.

It looks like you are using Internet Explorer 8.0. Please upgrade your IE version to the current version or try using a current version of Firefox or Chrome, and you should be able to do the import.

As a side note, not only will you have issues with your import with IE 8, but you will run into other loss of functionality across WordPress.com with that browser, so I would strongly urge you to update it if you prefer using IE over the others.

Thanks for the advice. I switch to Firefox and now the imports are running smoothly.
