Trouble with domains

I am very new to this and so I am very confused!!
I seem to have two sites (I dont know HOW??, I think one might be wordpress.org?)
So one is organikkadotorg1.wordpress.com and the other is organikka.net. The one that I DON’t want is organikka.net as I THINK this is the .org site. There is no ‘store’ tab on the dashboard and no chance to upgrade so I have minimal templates. But, this is the domain name that I want people to type in to get to my site.
The other one is organikkadotorg1.wordpress.com – this I think is the wordpress one which i can edit and has the store and templates etc. However, I do not want people to have to type in that whole address… I just want people to have to type in organikka.net
I dont know where to start! I spoke to my domain host, netregisry and they said that I have to do something to make the one that I want in to an ‘A domain’ or something like that??
    Please help!!! Thanks

The blog I need help with is organikkadotorg1.wordpress.com.

It looks like you also bought domain mapping (dashboard >> Store >> My Upgrades) – for the domain name organikka.net – but the name servers are not set to WordPress.COM (see below) – it also looks like you have bought hosting for organikka.net at NETREGISTRY.NET – if you really want to have your blog here you need to change the name servers at your Registrar to point to WordPress.COM (see below) – if you bought hosting that you don’t want – then you need to talk with your host and cancel it –

Please also note – that once things are set correctly it can take 24 to 72 hours for changes to reach the far corners of the internet – changes usually start after a few hours but operation can be erratic until changes reach the far corners of the internet

    Hope this helps a bit

Thanks very much auxclass. It is still a little confusing but I think I am starting to get it.
At netresgistry it says wordpress 3.4.2.3.0 is Finished Installing ‹server-home-directory›/wordpress
But the wordpress 3.5.1.1.0 is INSTALLING ‹server-home-directory›/
Do you think that the best thing to do would be to cancel my domain name on netregistry?
    I really appreciate your help!!

DON’T CANCEL A DOMAIN NAME!! – if you like the domain name, you can just point the name servers to WordPress.COM at your Registrar – if you have domain mapping here then that has the effect of moving the name to your blog here – that gives you the short name you want

If you cancel the domain name it can take a long time to revert to the wild where you could purchase it again – and someone else might buy it ahead of you

Net Registry is setting up a WordPress.ORG installed blog for you – .ORG sites take more work – costs more

What are you going to do with your blog?

You can’t sell ads on your blog here or use affiliate marketing links for instance at WordPress.COM – for ads you would need a .ORG install – if you just want to write then .COM is good – much easier

I had a look at the link that you sent me. It seems that I have done all the first step… Update your domain’s name servers to the following:
    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

But when I get to the 2nd step that is where I get stuck. It says I have to go to store and then domain and add domain to blog button. If I add
organikka.net then an error msg comes up saying This domain has already been mapped to a WordPress.com blog.
If I add the long domain, it says That hostname cannot be added to this blog.
Then step 3 is to go to Settings>domains but under my settings, I do not have that option?

I am just using the site as a blog. No selling.

Sounds like you already have domain mapping and if you have changed the name servers to the correct setting

At this point I would just sit tight and let the changes work across the internet and not change anything

I will also flag this for the staff to review your account – they can make sure you have purchased the correct things and have chosen the correct settings

Ok, I will just leave it for a few days and see what happens perhaps?
Thank you so much for flagging with staff. I am a bit confused so I dont even really know what to ask them!!
    Thanks again!

    You be welcome

The staff have a good record of helping

Once your blog here is working you can decide what you want to do with the unneeded hosting at Net Registry

    Good luck

PS – You will log-into and work with the Dashboard at organikkadotorg1.wordpress.com for your organikka.net domain name – but your visitors will see organikka.net when they visit

organikka.net was mapped to organikka.wordpress.com, but I have moved it to organikkadotorg1.wordpress.com for you.

The name servers for organikka.net are still pointed away from us. Per the guide at http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/ they need to be:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

If you’re having trouble with that, you’ll need to contact your domain registrar for assistance.

Thanks. So what exactly does that mean?

Haha, I need someone to do this all for me. I tried and failed! I am not very tech-savvy!

Also, am I supposed to login with ‘admin’ as the username?

No, you’ll log in to https://organikkadotorg1.wordpress.com/wp-admin/ with your WordPress.com username, organikka1.

When I do login with that, I can make all the changes to templates, etc and it looks good. But then when I go to organikka.net it is different to what I have done. Is that because it is a wordpress.org site?
Basiclly, I want to make the changes on https://organikkadotorg1.wordpress.com/wp-admin/ and then have the website organika.net reflect the changes. I just dont understand what I have done wrong

I had changed that yesterday, but it has reverted back to:
    ns1.netregistry.net
    ns2.netregistry.net
    ns3.netregistry.net

    I have changed it to
    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

Do I delete the netregistry ones? And do you think this will all eventually work after chnaging that?

Yes, you need to replace the netregistry name servers with ours.

When a domain is registered or altered, there is a process called propagation, where information about the domain name is passed to internet service providers all over the world. This process can take up to 72 hours (though usually much less). During that time, you may also receive a warning message in your browser about “redirect errors”. Unfortunately, we have no control over this as it all depends on how often your internet service provider updates their records.

If you still have trouble viewing the site after 72 hours has passed, please try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies

If that doesn’t work, try clearing your local DNS cache:

Ok, I have made it so there is ONLY
    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

I guess all I can do is wait and see now if anything changes.

    Thanks for all your help

Ok, so when I try and login in with organikka1 on this page http://organikka.net/wp-login.php
I can ONLY login as admin.

When I login in here: http://wordpress.com/
I can login with organikka1. I can see the changes on this dashboard, and it is how I want the site to look, but then when I go to the icon up the top let hand corner, it takes me to the organikka.net site which doesn’t have the chnages, even though I can see them on the dashboard.
    Sorry, I am confused!!
