trouble with WordPress when using Firefox

  • Fristly, I apologise if this has come up before, but after a quick search, I couldn’t find anything addressing my issue.

Basically when I use the latest version of Firefox to browse my dashboard, the ‘my comments’ page wont even load, and in the last couple of days the entire ‘kitchen sink’ of options for editing posts has completely disappeared. I don’t have this problem when I’m on WP using the latest Internet Explorer on the same computer. I do however have the same problems when using Firefox to browse WP on my other computer.

I’m using IE 7 and the latest full release version of Firefox on XP op systems in both instances. Also, I have enabled Gears on both computers.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

  • I’m almost thinking that there may have been some changes in the latest two back-to-back updates to Firefox that may be causing issues, but of course I don’t know that for sure. I also have to factor in that I believe wordpress did some updating this weekend as well, so perhaps it is a combination of the two. I also have my suspicions that perhaps Gears is also involved although some have disabled it and still had problems, so I don’t think it is entirely to blame. Again it may be the combination.

My only suggestion is to log out, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart the browser and try again.

  • Thanks, I’ll have a clean up and see if that makes any difference, otherwise I’ll just have to have to use IE for now (no matter how painful that is)!

  • Try IE8. It’s out of beta. (I’ve been having Firefox issues too.)

  • I too have Mozilla Firefox and IE7. I can no longer edit my or anyone else’s comments on my blog. The update, delete, no any other link works when I click on it.

  • I’m having the a similar problem and I’m using Safari. I can’t access my blog at all, it makes my whole application quit.

  • Report it to staff via the Contact Support button, and try the Cookie Dance: log out, clear browser cache and cookies, restart the whole computer. Report back if that helps at all.

  • Ditto. Using Mozilla Firefox and my ability to ‘edit comments’ is dead/disabled/zip. I’ve logged out, cleared cache/history/cookies, blah etc and the ‘edit comments’ function is still dead. I’m going to bump over to InternetExplorer and see what the story is…

  • I’m getting a Security Warning on one of my blogs, too. The Dashboard AND the front of the blog. That’s kind of horrible, since this is my corporate blog and I’m trying to promote the company right now.

Here’s teh warning, in case any of you are seeing something similar:

    Secure Connection Failed

raincoastermedia.com uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is only valid for the following names:
      *.wordpress.com , wordpress.com

    (Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)

        * This could be a problem with the server's configuration, or it could be someone trying to impersonate the server.

        * If you have connected to this server successfully in the past, the error may be temporary, and you can try again later.

Or you can add an exception…

And the site is http://raincoastermedia.com . Is anyone else getting a warning when going there? I’m just off to report it to staff.

  • I get no warning in Safari or Firefox on Mac.

  • Thanks, it seems to have cleared up on its own. Weird, tho.

  • There be strangeness afoot in the wordpress woods. Keep your doors locked.

  • I discovered a problem with FF 3.0 when I was editing a comment thread I had made in http://shimworld.wordpress.com/2009/04/06/woks-of-life/ to include external links. The “Update Comment” refused to budge but it worked in IE6 and strangely, the whole blog displays well in IE6 for the first time in months. Maybe WordPress is working on cross browser platform compatibility performance?

  • My problem is that my blog looks ok in IE, but it looks all mixed up in FF. What can I do about it? http://www.gojeko.com Somebody help me, I am ana amateur.
