    troubleshoot twitter timeline
I tried to add the Twitter Timeline widget to my page but although a heading is there no tweets appear.

In the meantime I have added the old Twitter widget and that worked fine – the tweets are there and are updating.

Any ideas for fixing the Twitter Timeline widget so I can use that instead of the old Twitter widget, which I think may be phased out at some point?

Hope you can help, thanks, Carol.

The blog I need help with is trioross.wordpress.com.

I’m having the same trouble. How were you able to fix it?

    Thanks,

My twitter timeline widget never shows my tweets at all. I followed the instruction, re-created the widget/code, nothing worked. Checked twitter forum and seems like a lot of people are having issues with this widget but no solution. Is there a way to fix it?

    Thanks!

    Checked twitter forum

WordPress.com has their own instructions for adding the Timeline Widget you’ve created on Twitter to your WordPress.com site. http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/twitter-timeline-widget/

Essentially what you need is the ID# of the widget once created on Twitter and then paste that into the “Widget ID” line in the Timeline widget.

I did follow word press’s instruction, but it didn’t work. My tweet feed is showing up as “my tweets” as a hyperlink that links to no where.

Oh hold on, maybe it’s a chrome problem. The widget is working fine when i look at it on my iPad…

    asminc.wordpress.com is no longer available.
The authors have deleted this site.

So we’d need the URL of the site you need help with, starting with http:// to make it clickable.

The problem I had was the instructions in the WordPress help article didn’t work. The contextual help that popped up while I was adding the widget did work however :)

    My site is http://reachingacrossblog.wordpress.com/
I think the widget just doesn’t work in chrome but is fine in safari, in my case. Thanks!

@trioross – If you can remember what was different between the two, we can let Staff know that the Support doc needs to be updated.

When I created the widget on a couple of my sites, I found that the only thing I needed, after creating the widget on Twitter, was the Widget ID# from twitter. Worked right off the bat the first time. :)

@asminc-I’m looking at it right now on your site, in Chrome 27.

If refreshing the page doesn’t work, try logging out of WordPress.com, clearing your cache and cookies and then logging back in.

The article told you to copy a long string of characters and insert the number at a specific point.

Just looked at your blog on my Android phone asminc and your tweets are showing ;)

This is what the article says to paste in:

    [twitter-timeline id=1234 username=yourhandle]

@trioross-those instructions are for using a Shortcode to embed the Twitter Timeline in a page, post or text widget.

If you look a little further down the page, you’ll see this: http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/twitter-timeline-widget/#twitter-timeline-widget

I thought I was following the instructions to insert the widget. I don’t know anything about shortcodes. Perhaps the article could make things clearer for first-time widget users like me.

..or perhaps I should look at the contextual help before diving into the support articles! :)

Understand your confusion. Most every WordPress.com Support doc is split into sections and the index can be found in the blue box at the top (Contents) with related Support docs below the Contents.

In this case you’ll see that there are two sections to the Twitter Timeline Support doc:
    Embedding with a Shortcode
    Twitter Timeline Widget

Hope that helps for the future and best wishes.
