Turn off publicise

  1. Okay, I tried publicise and decided I don't like it. (Mainly because of the gigantic ads that suddenly appear on my posts for various political causes -- I really don't want to serve up ads against oil sands. I don't really have anything against oil sands personally.)

So how do I turn it off? I found the checkbox that is permanently next to each new post and I can uncheck it from there. But it's back on by default. Will I have to uncheck the box for every new post I do forever, or is there a way to turn it off?

Thanks in advance for all help.

  2. I'm sorry to say this is all I can find and it's what you have been doing:

If you want to opt out from any of the Publicize services for a specific post, just click the Publicize Edit link. You can then uncheck whichever services you want.

Unless another Volunteer posts an answer for you, note that Staff have deactivated the support link until early Monday 29th August (UTC). When it's activated again you can contact them for help.

  3. Thanks a lot, I can wait 'til Monday, it's a minor thing really.

  4. Will you please be kind enough to return after your hear back from Staff so we are clear on how this disconnection can be accomplished when they next blogger asks the same question?

  5. Sounds reasonable.

  6. Here's the thread where the answer is discussed -

  7. Thanks for sharing that link. Now we Volunteers will be able to supply the instructions when other bloggers ask.

Alternatively you can use Networked Blogs or RSS Grafitti for posting to Facebook walls if you prefer.
