Twenty Ten remove comments field

Hi – I want to remove comments field entirely from web site, which uses the Twenty Ten theme.
Have gone through all the forums and followed instructions to removed tick in ‘Allow Comments’ box on each page and applied same under Settings_Discussion, but to still no avail. I was about to upgrade using this theme in order to edit css, but hesitant to do so unless the comments field can be completely removed. Have looked at template css and cannot see a way to disable.
    Any advice please?

The blog I need help with is

This page > Settings > Discussion
Discussion settings is where you set up defaults for comments.
We can also overide the default settings and enable or disable future comments on any post or page.
When we close comments a phrase like “comments closed” or a similar phrase will appear and it can only be removed by CSS editing after purchasing a custom design upgrade.

    Hi there!

Disabling comments in Discussions area and those relating to individual pages still does not remove the comments box. It may disable comments being registered onto the site, but I want rid of the box entirely!

Have therefore upgraded in order to edit the Twenty Ten CSS, but that comment box is STILL there! Can’t seem to find a way to remove it at all…… Help!

The comments box has been disabled in all your pages except the one you’ve set as your front. So you just need to edit your Welcome page: you have either forgotten to uncheck the option “Allow comments” as well as the option “Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page”, or forgotten to click Update after doing that.

Oh dear …. thanks for that. Head thoroughly hung in shame!

    Thanks again!

Where do I find the Welcome Page? I am so frustrated.
