TwentyEleven page size/layout

    Hi all,

    Afraid my knowledge in this area is very very basic. At some point my webpage seemed to change size and now doesn’t fill the screen.

    How do you change the dimensions of the page?

    Cheers in advance.

    The blog I need help with is

    In 2011, if you use the no sidebar template, the maximum width of the page is 690px. This is done so that the content (text) doesn’t get too wide. Text should not be much over 600px for easy reading. That is why books aren’t very wide. If text lines get too long, it is harder for the eye to move from one line to another without skipping a line, or ending up on the same line.

    If you use the default page template with the sidebar, the overall maximum width of the theme is 1000px, part of which is taken up by the sidebar and the content area remains the same with as with the no sidebar template.

    If you want to widen the no sidebar page width, that can be done with the following, but I would not go too much wider for readability reasons. Just adjust the 690px max width value.

    .one-column #page {
    max-width: 690px;

    I really like how you kept the home page simple. If I may, I have some suggestions for simplifying it just a little more even by taking away the top and footer borders. Try it out if you’re interested:

    .home #branding {
    	border-top: 0;
    .home #site-generator {
    	background: none;
    	border-top: 0;
    	padding-top: 0;

    This just affects the home page.
