Twitter feed widget not working

  1. I am unable to get the basic twitter feed widget working on my free wordpress site. I have the correct twitter widget ID and everything is set to public but the twitter feed widget at the bottom of my page does nothing and does not even link to my twitter feed let alone display tweets. Thanks in advance

The blog I need help with is thebreakfastnooklibrarian.wordpress.com.

  2. The old Twitter widget may be the one you installed. Please use the Twitter Timeline Widget. Here's the link to the guide http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/twitter-timeline-widget/

  3. Hi timethief. The widget you linked to is the one I used, it's the only option for Twitter feeds in the widget section as far as I can tell.

  4. When the twitter timeline widgets don't work we usually find the blogger has not entered their correct or full Twitter username link. Make sure you have done that please. Also note that it's a widget that displays cached information so it's not going to update instantly.

  5. I have used the Twitter widget ID which Twitter provides me with when setting up the widget through Twitter. I am not sure what the "Twitter username link" you're talking about is unless it's the widget ID in which case I have confirmed it is the correct one several times as well as simply cutting and pasting it. It still seems not to work. If worst comes to worst I'll just post an HTML link to my Twitter page with another widget but I would prefer to have a few Tweets displayed on my page as well. I'll give it some time and come back at this later. Thanks for the help so far.

  6. I see the Twitter Timeline Widget here and it is now updating http://thebreakfastnooklibrarian.wordpress.com/

  7. Actually that was a post I made on wordpress announcing I have a Twitter account. The Twitter Timeline app on the footer of my page is still not updating anything.

  8. Yes, I have it set up so that my posts on WordPress are posted to my Twitter as well. However, I thought the purpose of the Twitter Timeline app on the footer of my page was to display Tweets I have made and link to my WordPress at the footer of my WordPress page (or wherever I want to put the app).

  9. Or is there something going on where others can somehow see my Twitter timeline posted on the footer of my page and all I can see is "Follow me on Twitter, My Tweets"?

  10. I thought the purpose of the Twitter Timeline app on the footer of my page was to display Tweets I have made

and it is indeed displaying all 2 tweets you have made so far. This is what I see right now. https://cldup.com/Hj5Y6WcoK1.png If you don't see it, try refreshing the page.

and link to my WordPress at the footer of my WordPress page (or wherever I want to put the app)

The Twitter widget will only link to Twitter. However in your profile on Twitter, you've linked to your WordPress.com site.

  11. Whoops! I was distracted. :) I meant to post the link to your site, not your Twitter. https://cldup.com/gH_PU6_3bb.png

  12. Okay. So it is just my computer because I'm an idiot. I completely forgot I had Ghostery running and as such didn't set the permissions to allow the Twitter feed pop up there. Thank you. Issue resolved. Now I'm going to make myself some humble pie.

  13. No worries (you're not the 1st) and you're welcome. I'd be happy to share some of this black olive and feta pizza with you. It might be tastier. ;-)

  14. Black olive you say? That does sound good.
