Twitter without Twitter

This is more a call for a new theme.

While there have been a couple of themes made for which are supposed to have a social network, “Twitter” feel to them, they still do not meet what I’m looking for.

All of these new additions of Asides and quickposts and twitter-like posts that multiple people can write on are great, but they all get put in line, one after the other. So you have a full fledged and fleshed out post behind an aside and then a gallery post, etc.

To me that’s just a bunch of clutter, especially if the asides are supposed to be brief comments, not a “real” post.

What I’d love to see is a theme that is clean and basic, with at least three columns. Plenty of widgets for the third column and the bottom of the page, a standard header and paging application at the top. BUT, for two of the columns, make one only available for brief postings, such as asides – which would and do look like a Twitter post.

I do not have a Twitter account, nor do I want one. However, I do like the idea of Twitter… brief comments. Sometimes I have something brief to say, however I don’t feel it worth including in the line of regular posts. I don’t want a “pinned” post that I’d have to unpin and/or rewrite.

Does this make sense? Does this sound interesting?
