Two blogs on one site?
Hi, I’m working in the Dara theme, and I have our blog set up and have several posts already included (from our old site). It is set up as a page within the site versus being on the home page. With this new site, we want to add recipes as a different menu item, but I want it to work like a blog — so I can do different categories (Soups, Desserts, Salads, etc.), and tag each recipe. Is there a way that I can do that?? Thanks so much.
The blog I need help with is mwmermaidmuse.com.
Hi @mwmermaid ,
I believe you can achieve what you have written above with the Dara theme. I’m going to try and help you, but as your blog is set to private, I won’t be able to see exactly how your site is right now. To better assist you, I’ve sent you an invitation request, if you don’t mind me seeing how you site looks right now. I will also mention, if you have a paid plan with WordPress.com, you can get personalized support from the staff and have them look at your blog even while it is set to private. So feel free to take the route which suits you better. In the meantime, let me see how I can help you.
The Dara theme supports featured pages on the home page, which I think may become important for you when constructing your site. Have you read through the explanations and instructions here?
At the top of the demo site listed in the above link, you will see they have a menu with the following items.
Home / Service / Blog / About / Contact
Is my understanding correct that you would want to change this to, say,
Soups / Desserts / Salads / …
and have different recipes listed underneath those menus? This will be achievable from the menu customizer. You can access this by going to the left menu you see when editing your site. Click Customizer > Menu > Primary, and you will be able to select which pages are top-level pages that will be shown on your home page, and which pages you will have as subpages (pop-outs) underneath each of those menu categories.
Let us know how you go. Feel free to write back here with any questions you may have in the process!
Thanks for your reply, I did a work-around, so everything’s good. Appreciate you reaching out.
