Two columns – One column per category

    Hi there,

I want to change my blog’s theme, but am not entirely sure if what I’m imagining is possible.

I would like a blog with a sidebar for widgets, then two columns for posts. The trick is – I am hoping that column A could show posts from only category A, & column B shows posts from category B (regardless of posting order – I might post in category B more often, for example, but only want these posts to show up on the one column).

Is there a theme that has this option?

    Many thanks!

The blog I need help with is thefriande.wordpress.com.

I”ve never found one like you’re describing and I’ve been looking for a long time. Good luck. Hope you find it.

To my knowledge, there is no theme that behaves the way you are asking (two categories displayed on the front page automatically).

If you need help selecting a theme, have you tried the theme library? http://theme.wordpress.com

Thanks to both of you for the advice.

I guess I was getting a little ahead of myself, & might have to use Featured Posts or similar for the effect I want.

    Thanks again.

    Hi thefriande,

The free theme Nuntius doesn’t list posts in columns, but it does have the ability to group posts by category, which is similar to what you’re looking for.

You might also want to check out Magazine, Lifestyle, and Currents. They’re all premium, but they all let you feature posts in sections. Magazine and Lifestyle have a featured posts widget which lets you feature posts from a specific category. Be sure to check out the Showcase Pages for all of these themes I listed just in case one of them comes close to what you’re looking for.

    Hi michiecat

Thank you so much for your response.

The Nuntius theme looks fantastic & definitely has the functionality I was after.

Sorry for the late reply – I was out of town – and thanks again for your help!
