Two quick questions regarding traffic stats: Views & Visitors, & email subs

I’m just coming up on 250k views and want to understand somethings I haven’t previously bothered with.

    Regarding the stats page:

1: Can anyone explain the difference between Page Views & Visitors? Each visitor looks at one+ page (The views per visitor stat seems to be between 1.25 & 1.9. Is this average, good or bad?)

2: Where do my email subscribers get counted? If they were the difference between views & visitors I’d expect that number to equal my email subscribers.

    Thanks for any help.

The blog I need help with is

If I visit your blog then my clicking in is 1 page view and 1 visitor. If I then click 4 post or page links then the total is 1 visitor and 5 page views.

Do be aware the likes and shares are not pages view stats.

Likes and shares are misleading when you are talking about page view stats. Your followers and anyone with a blog who is logged into can “like” and “share” your posts in several locations such as in email and the Reader without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat. See here for what I do to compel readers to read posts on my site >

Thanks. I’m not worried about likes & shares, I honestly pay no attention to Likes & Shares. So am I correct in saying that the ~200 subscribers who get new posts in their email are not counted as views (as they have no need to visit)?

That’s correct. If they do not click in to your site then there is no page view stat. That is why I reduce my RSS Feed to summary only.

    Thanks for your help.

You’re welcome and best wishes with your blog.
