Uberlink and Home Button Questions for Sandbox-10

I’m in the process of building a 3-column layout for sandbox-10.
    http://scutreport.wordpress.com

    1. I was wondering if it’s possible to make an “uberlink”. The term is new to me, but the concept is to have a menu that highlights the link of the current specific page. I’ve noticed tutorials that use javascript in conjunction with css, but I was wondering if it’s even possible with sandbox-10.

    2. I would like to have a “home” button in my top menu. I’m not sure how to go about this. I considered a specific text widget with absolute positioning but I have not been able to get it to work. (see the bottom of the far right column for that widget)

    3. Lastly, my menu seems to mess up with IE7. Firefox and chrome look identical but IE makes the menu look taller. I considered simply giving the menu a specific height but I was wondering if there was a more elegant solution.

    Thanks!

p.s. props to devblog for helping with the initial layout code

As for item #2 – you can try the page trick, whereby you put the link to your home page in the title of a page, like this:

    <a href="http://scutreport.wordpress.com/">Home </a>

But the last time I tried that in Sandbox-10, it didn’t align properly in the menu. YMMV

(That’s one of the reasons I haven’t switched my blog to Sandbox-10. The other reason is that I can’t figure out how to keep certain pages out of the menu.)

The 3 column theme I told you about, uses “uberlinks” they’re styled by the “.current_page_item” class.

    Awesome! Both solutions worked!

    Many thanks!

Actually. Sorry to burst the bubble, but it appears the Home button trick does NOT seem to work. I’m not sure why I initially thought that it did.

That’s because you changed it from Home to Blog and didn’t put the space behind the word blog. In order for the trick to work, either the title has to be two words or a word and a space. That’s why when you copied and pasted the code I gave you above, it worked. But when you changed it, it didn’t.
