Unable to export my blog

  1. When I try to export my blog the process starts and the file is downloaded but it fails with the following error

This page contains the following errors:

error on line 4256 at column 121: Input is not proper UTF-8, indicate encoding !
    Bytes: 0x03 0x73 0x20 0x67
Below is a rendering of the page up to the first error.

Definitely think this is one for the Happiness Engineers unless one of the volunteers knows how to fix this.

The blog I need help with is

  2. I'll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

  3. Thank you...already subscribed

  4. Which blog are you trying to export? Once I know which one is giving you trouble we can try a couple different things.

  5. I have sent you an email with a link to your blog's export files. Please check for that and let me know if you continue to run into issues with your export.

  6. They didn't work. I'm trying to import the files into blogger using the conversion tool available at

It throws up that there are syntax errors. So I checked with several online xml validation tools and they are not happy with the files either.

  7. Do all three .xml files give you errors? Could you reply to the email I sent with the specifics on what the errors are, including any details provided by the app? You can copy and paste the text of the errors or take a screenshot and attach that to the email.

  8. It's .23:30 here in th UK I will run the whole thing in the morning and reply then.

  9. I resolved the problem this morning. Basically the XML file was too long for the conversion program so I had to split it into sizeable chunks for the import process. Once I did that it would import the XML file but it did throw up a few errors. but the main thing was I got the body of my posts imported and now I can work on re-formatting them and adding new photographs from Flickr

Thanks for your help in this matter.

  10. It's true that importers and conversion programs often have size limitations, so large files often do need to be broken into smaller ones.

Is this resolved for you, then, or do you still need assistance with the export?

  11. I think we can consider this one resolved and once again, thank you for your help

  12. You're very welcome, and my apologies for all the trouble you've experienced of late.
