For me, a TT user, today has been flawless. Back to normal. That might not last, but for now, OK.

Mine’s worse than ever; can’t access anything, let alone view it! Am not with TalkTalk (am with Sky). Takes about ten mins for me to get on here now too.

Still not working here… Took me 10 minutes just to get back on to the forums after I’d checked if things were working… Have been able to update existing blog – albeit very slowly and with a few 100 ‘no data received’ notifications, trying to set up a new blog since Sunday… can’t even open the correct page :-( Do we need to do the technology dance and reboot everything?

Talktalk user. After a few tries now I could not even get my own blog to load. I have been able to gain access to it today though so as people have said it is on and off, but even when I could view mine many others wouldn’t load.

Here is something interesting which might shed (??) some light on what is going on. Today I cannot edit Wikipedia, as a normal TalkTalk user. No clear reason why, but I get this message:

The IP address that you are currently using has been blocked because it is believed to be an open proxy. To prevent abuse, these proxies may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. If you believe you are not running an open proxy, the most likely cause is that another customer from your ISP who was previously assigned this IP address was running an open proxy. If this is the case, please request to be unblocked using the {{unblock}} template, or request administrator attention using {{admin!}} and indicate you are caught by an open proxy block. More rarely, your network equipment or that of your service provider may be misconfigured or compromised by malicious software (such as a virus). In some cases, this can be remedied by logging into the secure server. For more information, see the Wikiproject on Open Proxies and Wikipedia:Open proxies.

Sorry … please disregard my post. It’s irrelevant. I WAS accessing in an unusual way. Forget that.

Thanks Eurello but no change at all. Now I can’t even reply to just approved comment from the normal viewing page. After approving from Dashboard and switching to home page I was forced out and had to log back in to reply to published comment – but submission failed!

Commenting on another UK WP blog still not possible, even after logging in. Managed comment and upload comments however via Manage My Blogs/Reader as I follow that blog.

This is an enormous problem and I suspect it may be related to new directive against accessing porn sites. I think Talktalk may have thus tried to extend their ‘HomeSafe’ facility to bloggers detriment.

I think the user above who is copy-pasting has the right idea. Perhaps if you can, use an offline blog editor: Windows Live Writer is free and dependable, and I loathe Microsoft so I wouldn’t recommend it if it weren’t good. For Mac users there is Ecto. That way you can keep writing, even add images and formatting, and in the intermittent periods you can get through, upload to the blog without losing your copy of your work.

It’s not perfect, far from it, but it will work. Post by Email might also work, since it goes from your email server to WP.com, not through your browser.

Regret still NO CHANGE: am out and about today so cannot waste any more time. For info here’s copy of note just done in personal fault log (as draft on WP Dashboard:

Thur 25th 8.52am – supposedly all corrected so am saving this (Testing) draft and previewing – still get page not found. Saved again and switched to view main home page by clicking as usual on blog name above Dashboard. Screen changes without much delay to show Home Page and ‘Follow’ pop-up form in bottom RH corner!!

SO STILL GET LOGGED OUT – ie. have to log back in to do any editing!

Yes, as with raincoaster I’ve used Windows Live as useful work-around

I’m in the UK and with TalkTalk, still having huge issues. The info at the top of my page disappears on every new wordpress site I visit, giving the appearance I’m logged out. I can’t leave a comment on about 90% of sites, and the ones that do get posted go straight to spam. Very frustrating, and like everyone else here I hope it gets fixed ASAP.

Amandalannon, thanks for checking my blog. You must have picked a time when my blog was working. The problem is intermittent. I have no access this morning. Very few people from the U.K have visited my blog this week.

Phone coop tell me they haven’t put anything in place that would block WP.

My fear is that this might be due to a ‘gremlin’ infecting my computer (I’m strictly non-technical). Back in May the sign that flashes up to indicate a new comment or ‘like’ stopped functioning. My computer repairer found a Trojan. Nothing else in my computer was affected, but that function in WordPress has never worked since.

So I’m hoping for news that some external technical glitch has been identified.

I just spent half an hour on the phone to Sky, who are my ISP. They said there is no block or restriction that they have placed on WordPress at all and that it is in all likelihood a WordPress issue, not an issue with the internet companies, given that it is so widespread and that people experiencing this problem can access other websites with no issues. They are aware of the problem as they’ve had other Sky customers complaining about the same thing, but after checking their lines/connections, no fault has been found (I couldn’t check mine as I don’t hold the account; my landlord does. But all other websites are fine anyway so I know it’s not a connection issue). So it seems that it is NOT just TalkTalk, it is unlikely to be a connection problem with our ISPs (otherwise we wouldn’t be able to connect on any other sites either) and it is highly unlikely to be individual viruses (we wouldn’t be able to access other sites if our individual internet connection settings were interfered with). I’m still really unclear as to what WordPress are doing about this apart from focusing on TalkTalk. Can someone from WordPress update us properly today please, as in what they are doing, who they have spoken to and the feedback they have received? Surely after all this time WordPress must have at least an idea of where the problem may lie? It’s not just TalkTalk, that’s been proven. It seems we’re being left to guess amongst ourselves and it’s been going on for a week. Any news would be welcome! Even if it’s not good….at least all your customers will know where they stand.

As I posted above, you CAN post to your blog if you use Windows Live Writer, Ecto, or Post By Email.

    #1354336

I just tried posting to my blog using Windows Live Writer and got this: ‘Can’t connect to your blog service. An unexpected error occurred on a send. Please try fixing the problem and then try again’. So I can’t use that one. I’ll try Ecto next then.

No, don’t pay for Ecto. Ecto works just the same only it’s for Mac and it costs money.

At least your post is saved. Just try and reconnect. Sometiems it works, sometimes it doesn’t, but this way you always have a copy and never lose anything. Just keep shooting until it hits the target, if you know what I mean.
