Unsupported browser-Browser update

  1. My browser is updated but wordpress does not accept it. I use Internet Explorer 9. The message of the site says it's the most recent browser for Windows Vista but wordpress does not show several fanctions and it's getting worse and worse. The last few days I cannot see my notifications anymore. I cleared cashe -in fact I do it regularly- and I have no intention to use another browser. IE9 works fine for any other work I do, except for wordpress and I wonder why.

The blog I need help with is womaneveryday.wordpress.com.

  2. The most recent version of IE is IE11. It was officially released on 17 October 2013 for Windows 8.1 and on 7 November 2013 for Windows 7.

As you cannot upgrade when running Vista, will you please try downloading either Chrome 39 or Firefox 34?

  3. IE9 is the most recent browser for Vista as Windows mention -not me.
I use IE9 for all other works and I do not want to use another browser further more two different browsers, one for wordpress and one for all others.
The problem is that wordpress has withdrew support of this specific browser.
Why wordpress makes the change "mandatory"?

  4. IE9 is the most recent browser for Vista as Windows mention -not me.

I am aware of that. As you cannot upgrade when running Vista, will you please try downloading either Chrome 39 or Firefox 34?

  5. I have Firefox and Opera already installed only I don't use them.

  6. ... and updated.

  7. Were you able to update Firefox or Opera to the latest version? You can see the latest versions of the major browsers listed here:

    http://browsehappy.com/

Unfortunately, we can't support every browser version forever. In general, we support the latest two versions of every browser. For Internet Explorer, this means that we fully support IE 10 and 11.

  8. How much time is "forever" and what is the criterion for deleting a browser version? Computer sales for the companies? Promotion of certain browsers? Desolate.

  9. Here are the IE browser use stats for 2014:
    http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_explorer.asp
Note that only 1.6 % of those online were using IE9 in December of 2014.

  10. As I said

we support the latest two versions of every browser.

The current version of Internet Explorer is 11, so we support 11 and 10. Generally doing this covers the majority of users on the internet because any browser older than that will begin to see significant usage issues, like the ones you're describing here on WordPress.com.
