Unused yet unavailable/taken blog names, options?

I wanted to edit my blogs name and the name I want is taken. it seems a blog was created in that name April of last year, but was never once used or touched.

Are there any options for these scenarios? Does wordpress have a middleman forum anywhere? There is no public information as to who administers it, or if the creator is even still existent perhaps it is a failed/given up blog. This one for example has not even one post, just the welcome info defaulted via wordpress.

This could help out many others in the future and helps wordpress over all to expand. I dislike these kinds of stone walls.

    Namaste,
    Thanks in advance

The options for these scenarios are: you’re stuck unless you can contact the owner of that blog. And WordPress.com staff will not violate their privacy regulations to give you contact details.

There is no expiration date on blogs unused or otherwise. If you can make contact on your own with the owner of an unused blog then there is a means of a consenting blog owner to transfer the blog to another username account. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account In the case that there is no contact information Staff will not breach the privacy policy and provide you with an email address.

You can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

Or you can register a domain vis a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.
