unwanted italicized text

  1. Hi

I tried everything I know but I can't seem to undo the italicized text on one of my blog posts. I don't know what's wrong. It looks completely normal when I'm editing it but when I click preview or view the page, the text is still italicized. What's the problem? I tried looking at the HTML but I can't see the issue. I tried looking at past queries involving italics too but didn't help.

Also, I don't know if this is related or not but I did edit the text previously on Word and then I copied and pasted it onto my wordpress. Does that make any difference?

    Thanks in advance!

The blog I need help with is

  2. I don't even need to look, but Yes, using Word will do this. Copy/pasting of any kind will do this unless you take precautions.

    1) go to your Dashboard->Settings->Writing and select "Wordpress should automatically correct invalidly nested XHTML" and Update. THat means if you introduce HTML tag errors later, WP will fix them.

    2) go to Dashboard->Posts and select the most recent, say, 20 posts, and set them as Draft using the bulk editor. Then set them back to Public. That forces the change you made above to take effect on all those posts.

    3) if you're ever pasting from Word again a) consider using Windows LIve Writer instead, as it works similarly but makes an automatic back up and is designed for blogging b) use the Paste from Word option in the advanced toolbar, which you can see by clicking on the last icon on the right in your visual editor.

  3. I did step 1 but how do I set them as drafts?

Thanks a lot for your help!

  4. The issue is that you've published this post as a Quote format post. Edit it and change its format to Standard.

  5. I changed the format to paragraph, if that's what you mean.

  6. No, I mean what I wrote. See here:

  7. Ohh okay, finally found what you were talking about!! I didn't even know that format thing existed lol :)

  8. You're welcome.
Several themes have various alternative post formats, and each post format is supposed to look different. As you now know, the text of a Quote format post in the theme you're using gets automatically italicized.

  9. Oh wow, I didn't know that at all. Thanks for catching it. At least they're protected from any copy/paste errors now.
