Upcoming Events Widget does not display correct time
Upcoming Events widget does not display properly. It is linked to a GMAIL calendar and the repeated events are showing the wrong time. The GMAIL calendar is correct. Event “practice” is supposed to read 7:30pm-9:30pm and is reading 3:30pm to 5:30pm.
The blog I need help with is florencebandky.wordpress.com.
Have you set your blog to the correct time? Default time is 0000 UTC/GMT (London)
Dashboard >> Settings >> General >> Choose a city in your time zone – remember to save changes
I am having the same problem, both my calendar and site are set for Eastern time
I am having the same problem – see http://kcps.org.nz/events/ .
The google calendar and the timezone for the blog are set for Auckland, New Zealand (GMT+13 at the moment). It used to work fine, and may have gone wrong when Daylight Savings Time kicked in at the end of September. As can be seen at that link, the events show up fine in a calendar widget, but are 11 hours earlier on the Upcoming Events display below it. For example, a meeting starting at 7:30 pm on the calendar starts at 8:30 am in the Upcoming Events list. Frustrating!
So, as you can probably tell, there is something amiss with the Upcoming Events widget. We are aware of the issue and are looking into it.
I will post updates here as they are available: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/upcoming-events-widget-is-having-a-few-problems?replies=1

I’m looking into this issue. Could you guys please confirm for me that this problem is only happening for repeating events?
It would also help me if I could look at one specific event from each of your sites as an example. Would you be able to copy the info for one event with the wrong time and paste it into a reply here? Could you also please include a link to your website where I can see the event with the wrong time showing?
What happened for me was that I set up repeating events (e.g., a meeting which takes place on the first Monday of each month) with a standard title. Then I edited individual meetings to add details, and saved just for each occurrence.
An example is an upcoming Development Group meeting which is from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm NZ time on Monday 4 November. You can see this in Google Calendar view if you go to http://kcps.org.nz/events/ and then click forward to the month of November.
Below that calendar is the upcoming events widget, and not only does it list TWO occurrences for the meeting (one without the specific details for that event, and one with), but the times are offset 13 hours into the future and are 8:30 am to 10:30 am on Tuesday 5 November instead.
Hope that helps.
It does help. Thank you!
I actually haven’t seen duplicate events on any other example blog yet.
I looked through the raw data from your .ics file (the link saved in the widget settings), and it looks correct to me without the duplicate. It seems like the only duplicate one is the “KCPS Development Group” event on Nov 4 (currently showing up as Nov 5). Is that what you see as well?
For the recurring events, I think I have enough info. now, and I’m working to get help to get it fixed.
Hi, I have an issue with the Upcoming Event widget as well for my blog:
It repeats events that are scheduled for later in December to an earlier date, please help!
The widget and the embedded google calendar is the same, but as you can see the widget displays incorrect information.
@sophieke, thanks for reporting this. It’s a known issue and hopefully we can get it fixed up soon.
All right! We’ve fixed the problem people had reported where recurring events were showing up at for the wrong timezone in some cases.
@sophieke, if you’re still having trouble, could you point me to an example on your blog I can look at?
As you can see from the widgets, one is the Upcoming Events, one is straight from Google Calendar. Some of the events displayed in Upcoming Events is not on the Google Calendar! They are events that I’ve created but not until May/June 2014!
Thanks for the link! This seems different from the timezone issue people reported earlier. We’ll take a look at it soon and reply back here as soon as we have more info.
