Upgrade to get rid of ads....

  1. Because I have no control over the type of ads WordPress is running on my blog, I decided to pay for the no-ads upgrade.

However, I still see the ads running at the bottom of my post-

is there some kind of a timeframe to get the upgrade set in place?

    Thank you for your input....

The blog I need help with is

  2. Does it show as active on your dashboard Upgrades page? If so, you just need to clear your browser cache and cookies and you should see no ads.

  3. Thank you.... it shows active on my dashboard, I cleared everything, still see the ads, and my husband also on his computer sees the ads.

Not happy about it at all.... advice?

  4. Well, I need to contact someone with super powers, because I paid for the no-ads and I want to get it.

anyone knows who should I get in touch with?

  5. I sent a message to Support, hopefully they will get back to me on this.

If I could ask a small favor, though - on my computer my top post is all messed up, the text is going over the side menu, the photos look much bigger than they should, even though I reduced them to 80% of the original size after posting, trying to fix the problem

on my husband's computer the blog looks fine, so I am wondering if this is a problem just on my laptop.

could you guys please stop by and let me know if it looks ok?

    Thank you!

  6. Hi sally
You site looks fine on my computer. No large pictures, no text going over the sidebar. Try the cookie dance:

I did see an advert, though. If you see that "no ads" is active, then something is wrong. I'll modlook this thread for staff to see.

  7. Thank you, Tess... in Internet Explorer all looks fine on my computer. I tried all tricks but nothing works, so it might be something to do with my settings on the laptop, maybe the screen resolution or something.

Still, the no-ad is very irritating. I will wait for someone to maybe get in touch with me and deliver what I paid for ;-)

  8. Hi Sally
Subscribe to this topic so you'll be notified when staff answers. It is frustrating when you just have to wait and cannot actually DO something. Have a cuppa tea!

  9. BTW, did you go through these steps for advanced trouble shooting?

If so, then you should probably start a new thread on this problem so it won't get lost in the cracks with the "no ads" issue.

  10. I've just noticed ads on my upgraded site as well - they are showing as live links on my posts. Horrible! I'm sure my readers will be offended. And the ads are also here on the forum, with live links from words like "ask" and "laptop."
What's going on with WordPress? I tried to access my stats yesterday and kept getting redirected to a website builder.
Is it my computer or WordPress?

  11. I guess I am not the only one, then... maybe they will pay attention to the problem...

    thanks for jumping in!

  12. Np. I cleared the browsing history and cookies from my pc and it seemed to help my site. However, I'm still seeing live links on this forum. There's one from "guess" in the above post. It probably leads to a Guess Jeans site, I guess...
I know it's OT but I bought a new pc just to help with the speed of posting on WordPress and it hasn't helped one bit. It still takes forever for pages to turn, though it's quicker on every other site.
You can slap my wrist for going off-topic.

  13. OK, my tips are useless. The ads are back. Sorry about that. I give up.

  14. However, I'm still seeing live links on this forum.

There are no adverts on these forums. The ads from WordPress only appear to logged out users on individual blogs. Your issue is something different if you see ads here.

    This might help:

  15. Ads still on, still no word from Super Powers, still upset here.

I am just bringing this to the top... hoping for some light at the end of the tunnel. If it's something that usually takes more than 1 or 2 working days to be set in place, I would understand it. But it seemed to me it should be automatic once it's in my Dashboard as "active"

  16. @sallybr
I hear you when you say you are upset. This thread has been flagged and bumping it is not going to get Staff attention any faster. When we create a support ticket by contacting Support Staff by using the contact link or by flagging a thread here in the forums for their assistance it’s important to understand they have a backlog. They deal with the support tickets, emails and threads on these peer support forums with the earliest dates first. So if we contact them more than once on the same issue or bump threads or create duplicate threads the date moves forward and it takes longer to get help. What’s required is your patience please.

  17. Ok... I will be patient... breathing in.... breathing out.... Zen mode fully activated!

  18. See here for how many are waiting (2 pages of threads) and have been waiting prior to this thread being tagged for Staff >

  19. Problem solved! I was contacted by a Super Woman, and she clarified the issue - the ad at the bottom of my page was linked to the WordsAd program that could be disabled straight from the Dashboard, and has nothing to do with the upgrade.

So, if you still see ads running at the bottom of your posts and you upgraded to no-ads, make sure you are not part of the WordsAd thing. To disable it, go to your Dashboard. It will then say they are "paused".

and voila', they disappear from the bottom of the posts!

    problem solved....

THank you for allowing me to vent my frustration, and I hope this can help someone else suffering from the same issues.

  20. Glad to hear the problem has been resolved. Feel free to contact us if you have any other questions.
