User Invite error.
I have a WordPress.com account set up for my Bookbinders organization and we are having a weird problem. I am trying to invite our Communication director to become the admin and change my status from admin to editor and I am getting errors all over the place.
She receives an error message from WordPress when she tries to accept the new user invitation. The message makes no sense – neither she or I are logged into the blog at the time. She is just clicking on the Accept link in the email when the error comes up. It is very frustrating. Any idea what is going on?
This is the error.
“Whoops, you can’t use an activation key you’ve created for someone else. You are currently logged in as gbwlonestarchapter. If you would like to accept this invitation using another account, please log out first.”
The blog I need help with is gbwlonestarchapter.wordpress.com.
Please post the WordPress.com username of the invitee. I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.
I sent the invite to [mail removed]. I also tried with my email address and when I responded to my own invite I got the same error.
Is she logged in as ‘pinkpedalcar’ before accepting the invite? if not, could she please try that. I’ve just resend the invite for you.
Yes she is ‘pinkpedalcar’. We finally figured it out. The person I was trying to invite as an editor was using the original username and password of the blog site rather than her own discreet username and password. She is in as a user now. I don’t need to add me back in. I was using that as a test to try and figure it out. And I was making the same mistake. Thanks so much for helping out. I learned something new.
I’m glad you fixed it.
Please let us know if you need any further assistance!
