I have 2 blogs with wordpress and 1 is with my writing partner Dot and Lori the other one is just mine. But I can’t figure out how to put just my name Lori without changing it on both. Do I have to just use another email to open the account with. I don’t want Dot and Lori on the Island girl company blog.
The blog I need help with is imaginaryfriendsforsale.wordpress.com.
Yes, you’ll need a whole separate account. Then your current username Invites the new uersname to be an Admin on that blog.
I have an account called chippnaway.wordpress.com attached to one email and post on another account attached to another email. Tried to post a comment on another wp blog found my user name had been changed and couldnt post. I then tried to log into my above acc and find I cant get access to the dashboard and username is wrong. This is a mystery as I havent accessed my wp blog or made any changes in the last week or so except today to get a new password thinking that was the problem. It wasnt.
I can’t sort this out if I don’t know the actual URLs of each blog. Naturally, posting that here would nullify anonymity, so I think we are at an impasse.
We can tag this for staff attention and hopefully they will be around soon to respond to you.
Your other choice would be to use the contact form and contact staff directly. http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/
Thanks. It somehow seems to be driven by gravatar so I’ll have a play with that. I have gotten into my wordpress blog ( thank goodness) but username and pic are now totally confused and compromising anonymity.
sloughly, I think I maybe see the problem here.
You apparently have one account with no display name: sloughly
And another account with “sloughly” set as the display name: mcalisterh
Each account is attached to a separate email address.
Thanks I think I sorted it out through the gravatar. Got a feeling the IP address may play a part ie more than one account at the same IP creates a bit of confusion even if they have different emails. Any ideas?
Reason I say that is that username from one email automatically got assigned to the account on the other email.

No, that’s definitely not the case. In fact, many ISPs provide shared regional IP addresses, so you could have a block of hundreds of folks on the same IP.
In this case, a specific username wasn’t “assigned” to another account, you had just set one account’s display name to match another account’s username.
The topic ‘user name’ is closed to new replies.
